Where does Graduate Programs’ data come from?
Graduate Programs.com content comes from a variety of sources, including editorial content prepared by Graduate Programs personnel, outside experts, student ratings and surveys, school administrators, and government databases. This data is then used to power our school profiles and search tools. If you are a college or university administrator and would like to update your school’s information, including photos, videos, and events, or if you find a piece of data that is inaccurate or out of date, please contact us.
To help better explain where our content comes from, we’ve compiled a detailed source list separated by content type below.
Our factual information comes from a range of sources, including IPEDS (Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System), NCES (National Center for Education Statistics), Common Data Sets (documents sometimes released by colleges and universities with various information), and the Graduate Programs community, including website editorial personnel, outside editorial providers and participating school administrators who update their school’s information on our website.
Reviews and Polls
Ratings and Reviews are submitted by current or recently graduated grad students who have posted them on our website. Polls from Graduate Programs emails or Facebook page may also be used. Only student reviews are factored into our grad school rankings.
Graduate School and Graduate Program Rankings
Graduate school and graduate program rankings are 100% student based. Graduateprograms.com reaches current and recent graduate students through scholarship entries as well as social media platforms. Graduateprograms.com assigns 15 ranking categories to each graduate program at each graduate school. Rankings cover a variety of student topics, such as academic competitiveness, career support, financial aid, and quality of network.
For a given graduate program, rankings are determined by calculating the average score for each program based on the 15 ranking categories. These scores are then compared across all ranked schools for that program and are translated into a final ranking for that graduate program, i.e., business and management. A given graduate program is not ranked until a minimum threshold of graduate student surveys is completed for that graduate program.
Content on graduate programs comes from many of the same sources as our school content, including IPEDS, student surveys, and school administrators, as well as a few additional sources, such as the U.S. Department of Labor, O*NET, and state/regional organizations.
Scholarships offered on graduateprograms.com are funded by GraduatePrograms.com.
