"I attend Adler University and I am working to receive my masters in counseling specializing in sports and health. The program that I am a part of has given me the opportunity to work with all different types of people in unique settings. In addition to your course work during the first year the students take part in a social justice practicum. This opportunity allows one to work in the community and advocate for social justice. The second year of the program continues to help develop the students as well rounded counselors by providing course work, clinical internship, and a sport psychology consultant externship. I highly recommend this school if you are looking for a program that treats you like a person and not just another student! If you would like to further your knowledge in social justice and enjoy city living, Adler University is for you!"

"The University of San Diego is an incredible university that tailors to each students' need by offering a variety of liberal arts classes. The professors at USD care about the students, and are available to meet outside of class during office hours to ensure that each student is receiving the resources they need. I recommend USD!"

"Adler University is great but would benefit from more diversity. The staff, faculty and students of color have the burden of teaching others about what diversity means, and that can be stressful. The majority population needs to take more stock in diversity as this directly affects the mission of social justice."

"Harper has an extremely diverse student body and it is something that cannot be stressed enough. Students do and are at their best when they are in a comfortable environment. That leads to students reaching out and helping others with anything ranging from making study groups to introducing them to their favorite clubs on campus."

"Adler University has given me a good grounding for a career as a psychologist. For the most part, the professors are incredibly intelligent, and good teachers of their material. The student body was, overall, a good experience, although there were times that if you were not incredibly liberal politically it could feel as if others would look down on you. Chicago is a great place to live, and Adler's campus is downtown, which gives a good opportunity to explore the city. Most of the student population came from around the country, which allows diversity in a geographic sense. Advisers work hard to ensure that you are taking the correct classes in the correct order, and the training department will work hard to make sure you get a good training experience at your various practicums. I am enjoying my experience, overall, here at Adler."

"Adler University has all of the right intentions. Due to the University being private, there are some areas in the financial department that can be quite frustrating. It is also a toss up of the quality of professor you will receive. I have had the most growth in areas of personal affairs, social justice, and professional education that I have yet to experience in my life. On the same note, there were a select few professors who do not support the same social justice agenda and learning experiences as the others. I think the school has unlimited potential, but needs to continue looking into their educators as to serve its student population equally."

"Adler University is an open minded, well established university that includes students in a social justice program. The faculty is diverse, open minded, and include students in research. I have been lucky to get into the PsyD program, I am grateful. Thank you."

"I graduated from Adler University (formerly Adler School of Professional Psychology) in 2014 with a M.A in Counseling Psychology and emphasis in Sport and Health Psychology. When I decided to go back and obtain a Psy.D., Adler University was the first place I looked. I currently attend Adler University again, pursuing my doctorate degree. I cannot say enough about Adler's well-rounded program. They enforce social justice and educate greatly on diversity. The staff are welcoming, helpful, and encouraging. There is always quick and efficient communication between students and professors, which creates a more impactful atmosphere. Adler University is held in very high regards within the psychology community."

"I am currently in Adler University pursuing my master's in Forensic Psychology. The classes push me to learn more and get more engaged in class than I ever have before. I have learned more in the first semester of my master's program than my whole undergrad career. The one part of Adler that made me want to go to school there is how involved they are with the surrounding communities. Adler University encourages their students to get involved and give back to their neighborhoods. I am proud to go to a school that is accepting of all and willing to give back and help others."

"The best thing about Adler University is its location. In the heart of downtown Chicago, it is easily accessible via public transportation and it is only three blocks away from Millennium Park which is a gorgeous place to study or simply enjoy a stress relieving stroll. Another benefit of the location is that there are so many sites available to complete practicum and internship requirements nearby. So far, all of my professors have established a balanced learning experience. Class time is split between informative lecture, beneficial skills practice, and stimulating discussion. They also push us to do high quality work without imposing impossible standards."

"This is A LOT of work...it is a doctoral program. Also, it's very expensive because it's graduate school at a private institution. You can find decent places to live (there is no "on-campus" living) for a reasonable enough price. I feel that the education you get as well as the cultural awareness that is interwoven into the program and mission statement are worth it for me."

"The focus on social justice and multiculturalism is woven throughout the program. The learning is experiential and the faculty are all practicing in the field. It does not feel academically rigorous but I'm not sure it's meant to. I feel like it will give me a solid general base in counseling but will require additional training to hone in on theory specific skills."

"The core faculty are so accessible and willing to help. The classes are a very reasonable size so I get to know my teachers and can get individual attention if I need it. The courses encapsulate what I will need out in the field and are challenging me at an appropriate graduate level. The art therapy program is small, but I have already had many opportunities to meet alumni who are working in the field. The campus is small, but what it lacks in physical space it makes up for in services-the computer lab and library are equipped to meet students needs. Located in the middle of downtown Chicago, the campus is surrounded by the bustling "Second City" and all it has to offer."

"Overall I absolutely love my decision to study clinical mental health counseling at the Adler School of Professional Psychology. The professors have been amazing and super understanding of my need to travel home due to a death in the family, and they also were understanding of my need to miss class when I developed mono. The professors were very accommodating to my needs last semester and I appreciated every single one of them for assisting me to complete work from home. I have also had a few struggles with Adler. For example, I was trying my best to figure out how to get the school my Spring 2015 tuition from Canada, and I tried to keep student services in the loop because I knew it would be late. They did not seem to care and ended up charging me a late fee which was an absurd amount of extra money. This was infuriating considering I am already going into debt to attend this school. Student services needs to be more accommodating of international students. Otherwise, it's a wonderful school."

"As an International Student, there aren't a ton of funding opportunities available. Otherwise, my first impression of the school (I only started this semester) has been positive. Great environment and friendly/helpful profs/peers."

"My graduate program is very focused on diversity and training culturally competent mental health professionals. The curriculum often includes a diversity element within every class that I believe is beneficial for the future of all mental health professionals in the United States and the world as a whole. Our location is in the center of downtown Chicago and our campus is beautiful and clean, but also has a very intimate environment. The one drawback is that there are several milestones each student must complete within the program and they typically are due in the middle of the semester. This deadline makes the already heavy and stressful workload even more intense due to the tendency of students to put their classes and practicum responsibilities on the back burner for several weeks as they work to complete a milestone assignment by the deadline."

"Pros: the quality and dynamics of the program provides ongoing intellectual satisfaction and stimulation for me. The class sizes and professors are also very efficient. The location on In downtown Chicago is definitely awesome and provides a perfect backdrop. Cons: tuition is very expensive, which can be expected however, the financial aid packages are very insufficient by only offering student loans. There aren't any grants, advertised research opportunities or fellowship offers available through the institution for masters students. Parking is very difficult and/or extremely expensive, because classes can be held very late it would be safer for some individuals to opt to drive instead of taking public transportation."
