"If you like small interpersonal classes in which the teacher really appreciate you as a unique individual, please enroll here. They have a professional staff of doctors that are professors. Psychology is the main degree people look after at Albizu University."

"Carlos Albizu Universituly is an amazing university. This is why I didn't think about it twice to pursue my doctorate, as well as my masters. I have been through many personal and financial hardships, and the professors in this university have a genuine concern for their students. Being a single mom, who also works full time, has been challenging. However, I couldn't have achieved my goals without the support of this institution."

"The university is a strong academic based school that focuses on education and practice. There is no campus life, sports groups, or on campus housing. This school is an APA regionally accreditated university. The programs are tough the courses are difficult in the doctorates level. I strongly recommend this school for any psychology future doctor."

"The university in general is great, the proffessor are very understanding and emphatic. The university does not provide housing and the cost to acquire one is very high. The don't provide grants or scholarships, so tou have to take student loans."

"The doctorate program at CAU is a program where you will get to know your professors and fellow students very well. The classes are usually no more than 15 students, and it is very easy to become close with the cohort of students you start with. The pros of the school include the quality of support from the faculty/professors. They are really there for you, and ready to meet with you if you need advice. I have had no problems getting practicums or getting the experience I need. There are so many opportunities in Miami, and South Florida in general, for psychology experience. The cultural diversity of students from this school is also a major pro. You will leave this school being a culturally competent psychologist. That said, there are cons to this school. While all the tests are up to date (such as the WASI-IV and WISC-IV) the scoring methods are not. The school still utilizes hand scoring of the MMPI-II. Another con is that there are not many opportunities for scholarships (unless you are a teacher in Miami Dade or in the military). And classes are year round - so there will be a slightly higher workload. A higher work load has its pros as well. You will learn a lot. The professors are very passionate about helping you become the best psychologist possible, and you will have the opportunity to take classes that are not offered/required in other doctorate programs. The last con is the expense. This is a private school, and no more expensive than other private schools, but you will accrue hefty students loans."

"Pros: Faculty are accessible and very knowledgeable. Can print for free. Can choose sites to go to for externship. Cons: very expensive, have trouble receiving financial aid money on time, administration can be a hassle, limited food/drink resources (only one cafe), limited academic resources (small library, not enough testing supplies), classroom size too large for grad students (15 per class)"

"Carlos Albizu University's graduate program in Clinical Psychology is accredited by The American Psychological Association. It is one of the few schools in South Florida that offers a Psy. D degree with an emphasis on the Practitioner-Scholar model. The classes are taught by licensed psychologists and are kept small, in order to provide individualized attention to each student. CAU also contains a mental health center where students can apply their knowledge and practice intakes, psychotherapy, and assessment techniques. However, CAU offers limited financial aid for graduate students. The only option for doctoral level students are loans. In addition, because of limited instructors, scheduling classes can become difficult for individuls who work full time."

"The pros are that it is a small, manageable campus. Faculty are easily accessible, parking is a breeze, fairly small class sizes, and it is easy to participate in most clubs. Research opportunities are there, you just have to be proactive and seek them out.. The career assistance and tutoring is amazing! The cons are that there is no gym or financial aid help (other than loans); all scholarships for grad students have to come from sites like these (they had a Disadvantaged Scholarship last year, but not for 2012-2013 year), many of the computers are slow (but they are working on it) and the library hours/loan periods are not desirable. Overall it is a good experience and you just have to be flexible and go with the flow."
