"Terrible communication from the school. They make changes but those are not communicated or poorly communicated. The financial aid department is a mess. Every single semester my financial aid information was incorrect and it was impossible to get ahold of them. I also worked for the school and one time I went over and they just had the phones off the hook so the calls wouldn’t come through. Additionally one semester financial aid literally did not disperse at all and they sent an email out saying if you need your loans and everything you can reach out directly. I had friends reach out and heard nothing back. During that time instead of resolving the issue they created a new email address and then said they couldn’t respond to the emails on the other address? Another weird thing for the undergraduate program is you can only take classes on your program plan. If you take any other classes you have to pay full price for them even if you have additional space in your schedule. For the graduate classes they moved many classes from 16 weeks to 8 weeks so many of my professors talked about how they couldn’t get through as much information and wouldn’t just let us know what we were missing out on. In one of my 8 weeks classes we spent over half the time watching movies which is wild for a graduate level class. Overall the education quality isn’t great and the school itself is only focused on making money. I know people who work in admissions and the focus is to expand to online and commuter students who can pay more so they can make more money. The focus of the school is just making money at the expense of the students they are meant to serve. They really say it is a great deal but as a grad you never get more than 50% off even as an employee they remove the additional scholarships. For undergrads the paid tuition model only applies to those who live on campus so they can still have you pay $14000 per year for housing. They removed some of their programs such as urban cohorts because too many students were living off campus in communities around the city to intentionally serve the community because they were losing money on those students. Overall I’d strongly recommend another school because this one is just not worth the stress."

"Moody Bible Institute and Moody Theological Seminary represent a wonderful place where growth takes place inside and outside the classroom. One of the most impactful experiences consists of being part of a great multicultural community of students, and seeing the God and the world through so many eyes from all the continents. The professors are high quality and both their teaching and their friendliness are life-transforming. Most importantly, I believe God is honored through the academic and ministry-oriented atmosphere, as well as through the relationships that define what Moody Bible Institute is. I highly recommend it."

"This school is excellent for an education in ministry or the Bible. They are highly accredited and respected by many. I got a one year degree in Biblical Studies. It got me into ministry at some churches. But there are many Christians and churches that have no clue who DL moody was. Christians in churches have laughed and called it a fake college because it has the name moody in it. Family has also called it a fake college because the name moody. Employers other than churches also think it's fake because of the name and won't hire you. I have also learned that just because you went to Bible college does not mean you will ever be doing ministry in some local churches. You need to be liked by the right people in order to volunteer to do ministry. And that is mostly where it gets you you get to do some ministry in select churches for free and don't get paid. This is a great school if only it didn't have the moody name in it."

  • Degree: Ministry
"Moody Bible Institute is great for those who are conservative Christians pursuing a future in ministry. The International Ministries degree specifically prepares students for cross-cultural relations, challenges, and ministry. The professors not only have knowledge, but experience in this field. If you plan to do this for your life-long career and do not have a value to earn a high salary, I would recommend this degree. If there is a possibility that you may branch out beyond this field at any point, you may want to consider either doing a dual degree or pursuing another degree that is more broad in its applicability. Otherwise, you may be limited in what career you are able to pursue with the degree."

The courses focus on Hebrew, Greek, Bible analysis, biblical and systematic theology, pastoral practices, church history, ministry leadership and narrative preaching which provide a sound and solid foundation of theological studies. The Ministry Leadership which I enrolled is to prepares me for effective and exemplary Christian leadership in a variety of settings through biblical, theological, professional and spiritual life training. The training in leadership is for various for various types of profession, such as pastors, church leaders, peoples involved in Christian organization etc. Most of the professors here are superb and they are not just a scholar, but a good friend of you."

"I have had a great time with my studies so far at Moody. I feel like it is a great school. The only thing that they need to improve is the workload. I understand that it is a graduate degree program, but most students are full time workers as well so the work load for classes seems to be way to much."

"The professors, faculty, and staff are extremely qualified and dedicated to our education. They are more than willing to share their experiences and knowledge with the students so that we are able to gain better understanding what it's like in the field. The administration has also been more than willing to work with individual students to figure out financial aid each semester. Each semester, I have received a generous amount of aid so I can afford both the time and money to attend classes. The cons are difficulties of forming a community. As a commuter school, it is often difficult to form groups with students who have extensive commute."

"One of the pros of my graduate studies at Moody Bible Institute (Moody Theological Seminary & Graduate School-Michigan) is the wealth of knowledge the professors share with the students. I am in awe of the experience and expertise of the Psychology professors at Moody. Another pro with the Counseling Psychology Program is the willingness of the professors to share their spiritual experiences with the stuidents, which enable us to glean from their walk with Christ as we continue on our personal journey with Christ as well. Another pro I feel is important with the MACP program is the assistance we receive from the Student Services Staff at MTS-Michigan which is great. Not only is the staff supportive and encouraging but they are also available to assist students with needs beyond academic needs. The one con I have concerning graduate school at MTS-Michigan is more financial aid should be made available to graduate students in the form of grants and scholarships, which would assist graduate students in minimizing the amount of student loan debt as we prepare for our chosen field of ministry."
