This list is comprised of the top 12 schools offering graduate programs in communications. The schools on this list have an average score of 4.13 out of 5, based on student ratings across a variety of areas, including student diversity, student financial services, and quality of instruction. Seven of these schools, such as Michigan State University and University of Nebraska-Lincoln, offer in-state tuition discounts, making them affordable options. 

Students at Michigan State University have nothing but good things to say about their school. In particular, students rated the quality of instruction most highly. "The faculty and staff at Michigan State are far and beyond helpful, knowledgeable, and qualified," wrote one student. "With great faculty support and resources, [the program] is helping me build my academic identity toward a useful scholar," wrote another. Reviews of the communications programs at University of Miami are similarly positive. One student notes, "This is an extremely cutting edge program and I'm proud to be a part of it. "

Methodology

Our goal in presenting this school data is to create a standardized and trustworthy method to assess institutions based on reliable statistics. In order for a school to be eligible to be featured on a Top Programs List, at least five students from that particular major must have submitted feedback on their institution.

Together with our internal recommend rate data, which is calculated based on tens of thousands of student reviews submitted to our site, the data used in the school listings were gathered in 2015-2016 from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). This site is the primary governmental entity for gathering and presenting data related to education. NCES data is updated annually. However, in many cases the most recently available data will not be for the current academic year. Additionally, tuition rates may vary by program, so prospective students should contact a representative from your institution of choice for more details.
