Taking art online the student i isolated and basically teaching his or herself via reading the materials and watching the media. Taking a class on campus the student is not isolated and surrounded with people in their class that one can learn from. There is also a live instructor to answer questions regarding any of the material covered and assignments.

The pros are that, for the most part, the online instructors genuinely care for the students' success. They are 'hands-on' accessible, and are quite willing to help the student achieve a goal and/or overcome a weakness. They are also very encouraging without being overly accepting. They are professionals in the art industry and genuinely care that only the best comes out of AAU. Many are AAU graduates themselves; therefore, they have a vested interested to maintain the good name and credibility of the school.

Great school. In terms of education, I am challenged to always become better which pushes me to work harder. Skills have improved in the span of a few months. But the school has a big work load to focus on. In terms of price, this school has no scholarships to give and it is way to expensive to continue my education on campus. Therefore, I must resort to online in my next semesters. But, again the education is mind blowing.

I attend this program solely online so I cannot comment about the actual school itself or the area it is located in. The online program is very well organized and the professors are very professional, knowledgeable and available for assistance. I was a little concerned about completing the degree program online but the classes are very thorough and challenging. I do feel that I am getting a well rounded education but I do feel it is a little too expensive. I wish that there were more scholarship opportunities from the school and more scholarships available for graduate students.

Degree: Visual Communications
Graduation Year: 2015

Some pros are that I am currently learning a great deal in my classes and the institute make the environment similar to the working environment which helps understanding and being prepared for what it will be like after graduation easier. Cons not supportive and enough scholarships or grants for graduate students.

Pros: - Strong but healthy competition to success. - Humble instructor and trainer for each department. - Numerous workshops that held every month. - State of the art facilities for the students. - San Francisco city as surrounding area for the school really enrich my social and cultural experiences. Cons: - Expensive living cost and the school tuition.

The graduate program at AAU is very hands-on and demanding. The professors are passionate about their jobs and are experienced professionals in the industry. The School of Fashion has good industry contacts and provides good career services.

For online school, I'm actually learning more than I expected. Academy of Art is an excellent school and I hope to take classes on campus when I move to SF.

There are some definite pros and cons. Pros being that it is in a big art capitol and around some amazing work, its a private school and there is more funding for the programs, more sources to show work and get work out in the world. Although there are some good pros, the biggest con is the cost of attendance, another one is that they change your advisor more times than you can count. Some of the professors are hard to get a hold of and/or talk to, plus they expect you to be on their knowledge level. The student base is the biggest help their, they are always willing to help out in anyway possible.

The only Con I have at the moment, is that I am doing the first half of the program online, and that I am lacking in equipment. The overall workload online is very doable, the professors are very helpful, and the critique given on written work as well as artwork, is very constructive and help growth in students. I have recommended this school to several friends.
