Degree: Social Work
Graduation Year: 2018

I enjoyed all of the opportunities that Alabama A&M University provided me in the graduate social work program. As a student, I was able to learn many techniques for the social work profession such as assessments while in classes. While working in the field as an intern I gained valuable experience that assisted me gaining practical knowledge in the social work profession. The graduate social work program was also able to provide me with a scholarship that greatly helped me in paying for classes. I would definitely recommend this program to anyone interested in pursuing their social work degree.

I appreciate Alabama A and M University for preparing me for a career in one of the hardest working fields of study. I am thankful for my professors that helped me and encouraged me to reach for the stars in my goals as a professional. I will not forget my time here at this institution.

Degree: Social Work
Graduation Year: 2014

When I graduated in 2012 with a BS in Organizational Management, I was married, a mother of five children, and grandmother to six grandchildren. However, my friend encouraged me to look into the MSW program at AAMU, and I applied before I left the USA on vacation. I was accepted, matriculated and graduated on time in 2014. It was challenging, but rewarding, and my teachers were exceptional because they were knowledgeable as well as caring and kind to the students. I had a wonderful experience! I recommend the MSW program at AAMU without hesitation, and I will continue to recruit students to attend AAMU for the MSW program. The faculty at AAMU rocks! Go Bulldogs!

Alabama A&M Universitys MSW program prepares its students for life after college. The department has some of the best professors on campus, such as Dr. Perry-Mitchell, Dr. Plummer, Professor Clayborn and Dr. McElderry genuinely care for their students and go above and beyond to make sure that you excell.

Alabama A&M provided me with the training to be a effective Social Worker and the academic skills to complete my PhD program. They offer a master's thesis option which trained me in research and academic writing. I'm currently a postdoctoral researcher at an Ivy League university and A&M helped make that possible!

Alabama A & M was a very positive experience. All faculty in the graduate social work department were readily available to assist in any way possible and provided excellence in the classroom. Once graduated, I was fully prepared to take and pass the licensure exam immediately as a result of the hands on teaching I received. The student body is high achieving and very supportive of one another in their academic and personal growth. I highly recommend this university to others. Faculty also assists you in preparing resumes to ensure excellent job opportunities.

Alabama A&M equipped me with the real world skills to face the often times challenging field of social work. Learning to question ethical dilemmas, to think critically and to understand the injustice that exists within our world have been incredibly valuable in helping me to succeed in the field.

This program was outstanding. The since of community and family provided by the faculty and staff lended to a safe and comfortable learning environment. For a mother going to school after working a full time job this was the most perfect program for me. The faculty challenged us, giving no room for underperformers. They were preparing us for the real world not simply preparing us to pass a test. They were cultured, world traveled, well rounded, educated, competent, passionate professors with a plethora of experience. In turn that inspired me to a bit more eclectic in my professional life and personal life as well.

The MSW program at AAMU has adequately prepared me for every aspect of my professional work today. In the AAMU MSW program students are not just a number in a field of students, but individuals. I was a non- traditional student who went through a divorce, became a single parent and lost a parent while in the program and my professors helped me navigate these transitions, while remaining the academic honor society and graduate. Today I still feel the support of my professors and the classmates I had there when reaching out to network, ask for a recommendation or advice, or just to check in.
