American Public University System is an affordable and convenient option for students who would like to pursue a degree through distance learning. The courses are thorough and demanding, but their nature as online courses make it possible for students to fit their academic work into any schedule. If you are serious about learning, but do not want to have to mold your schedule around class times, then you should add APUS to your list of schools to consider.

I have never had any issues with this school. I transferred in from a community college. It is reasonably priced. The classes are 8 weeks long. I've had some really great teachers. I joined student organizations and had the opportunity to join honor societies. This school is accredited and many military students attend.

American Public University was an excellent school for me. I was active duty military the entire time that I attended the APU/AMU and the university did so much to accommodate me and my fellow military classmates. When I had to leave for a week or two at a time the professors would work with my schedule and approve extensions for my work. The entire time that I studied with this university I only had one science instructor that was difficult to work with. That is one out of 40 other amazing instructors... Read More

American Military University (AMU) is an outstanding option if you are looking for an online college experience. AMU provided me with one of the largest selections of undergraduate and graduate degrees available online. There were numerous electives to go with each degree program, allowing me to choose electives that interested me and aligned with my degree program plan. As a career Soldier in the United State Army, AMU worked with me to adjust course requirements during times that I was deployed... Read More

If you want to go to Wal-Mart to get a degree then go here. If you want a real education do not go here. It is a corporate university and everything is cookie cutter. All the faculty seem miserable and the support staff sound like they all work at Disney.

THe program was fantastic, all the classes were very well organized and any issues that arose were very easily taken care of or at least help was easy to find to fix said issues. Classroom instruction was great and very easy to follow. with all classes being online it is a bit of a challenge if that is not what you are used to. However, the first class in the program is a class specifically designed to get you used to working in an online environment

This school is extremely flexible for my Military profession. Stateside or deployed, the administration was always able to help grant me the time to finish my work when called to deploy or when training took priority. I would say academically it was weak. The curriculum was very interesting and I learned a lot. However, you can do the bare minimum and get by quite easily. It does not offer the real interaction between instructors or students. Again, just enough to say it was done. I saw very little... Read More

overall quality is ok however it has a very inefficient Financial Aid department. I spent over a month of back and forth emails with no results. Few people telling me different things. Upset and frustrated. Too bad they do not have live classes like National University where I got my undergrad

Service Disabled Veterans and Law Enforcement Officers injured in the line of duty beware. As soon as APUS/AMU/APU learned that I was an SDV and LEO injured in the line of duty, the discrimination began. Without going into great detail, one would have thought I had the Plague or Leprosy. First, Financial Aid would not accept my phone calls once I disclosed my SDV status and I was denied financial aid. Secondly, when I attempted to dis-enroll from classes two days prior to the start of class they... Read More

The university us geared towards working professionals so classes are designed to promote learning while giving you the time to have a career and a life. American Military University was the best option for me. The condensed 8 week online courses allowed me to accomplish more classes throughout the year. Taking classes online gave me the flexibility to get class work done when time allowed. I was able to achieve a positive work/life/college balance thanks to the flexible schedule at AMU. I would recommend this school to all military members wishing to pursue higher education. I had a great experience and I look forward to graduate school.

All professors, curriculum, classes and cost are excellent. Much harder than brick and mortar because they are 8 week classes and very little hand holding which forced me to be disciplined and responsible and savvy when trying to find information. Professors are compassionate and very available and the graduation ceremony was top notch. I am going to enroll in my MS in Space Studies. I haven't looked for work in the field because I already have a job but plan to look when I graduate. Most of alumni... Read More

I attend APU and graduated with a Master of Arts in 2013. The coursework could have been more difficult but it was decent. The only issue is finding a job with the degree now. No problem with financial aid while I attended the school. Doctorate program should be offered in the future.

I had a good overall experience while attending AMU. The program was good, and I was also inspired to self-study in many cases. I think the self-study portion was largely brought about due to everything being online. I often times found myself looking for more than just the answer. I did have some concerns during the open forums. These concerns were largely due to the obvious cut and paste replies supplied by some of my classmates. In some cases, it was obvious that the students should not have been... Read More

I am in my senior year of the BBA program at APU. The course materials used are the same you would have in a brick-and-mortar school. I did my research on that to make sure the level of coursework and depth of learning objectives were where they should be. Every class has a weekly discussion forum participation requirement and this consists of an initial posting of 250-300 words due Wednesday or Thursday, along with replies to at least two peers' threads (usually 100 words). You will take tests and... Read More

This was easily the best choice I ever made education-wise. Obviously being active duty means I am going to be deployed a lot; so I needed an understanding online university that is flexible to our lifestyle. Over the course of five deployments I was able to successfully complete 21 classes and obtain my BA in General Studies. Because General Studies runs the gamut as far as classes go, I feel I have a pretty good cross-section of the types of classes and teachers APUS provides. Firstly, I had only... Read More

I had a really awesome outreach guy here in Arizona. He was a big Marine guy who was extremely helpful and was always there when I called or emailed him. I think he covered Arizona and Nevada maybe Utah. But after he left the service was complete crap! The old guy they have working this area is useless and no one helped out like the big. Take your chances now I guess. But my thanks to Marty for being there for me.

AMU is a great school! I have been attending for four years now. I have an AA History, AA Criminal Justice, and graduate in May with a BA Criminal Justice. The classes are well paced, but do require self motivation and work. All this nonsense about "traditional schools" is a joke. Employers just want to know the answer to the magic question "are they accredited", and AMU is! I will be receiving a 10,000 dollar raise when I am finished with my bachelors. I am a post 9/11 student and have had no problems.... Read More

The format of the program was excellent, and well established especially since I am an adult learner. The cost was among the lowest. In addition the university was very helpfully, and made consolidation of all the college credits I had seem almost effortless.
