I truly enjoy the American Public University System online graduate program. The courses allow flexibility for me to attend whenever I wish. Raising two children and working full-time doesn't leave a lot of free time for me to study, but with the online program at APUS, I have the ability to attend when I want to. I also like the fact that the professors respond in a timely fashion with constructive feedback about assignments.

Degree: School Counseling

This school is great. There is no transportation, they take financial aid, scholarships, etc. The campus comes to you, and workload for classes are for those that have a life and are not able to attend an actual campus due to job/family or other commitments. Would suggest online studies for those that can self direct their studies and can plan time for all work needed.

Great program with a good diversity of people and professors. Professors are professionals in the field. For profit university makes it more appropriate when knowledge is sought rather than reputation of program

Degree: Elementary Education
Graduation Year: 2017

The major advantage of this program is that it is completely online. The forum posts and assignments are due at the same time each week so I can adjust my schedule to meet these deadlines. This allows me to continue to work and take care of my two children while I further my edducation. The only disadvantage is never meeting my classmates face to face but that is a choice I made.

The overall experience at APUS/AMU is fabulous. The diversity of the students and the variety of life experiences bring new and interesting facets to each discussion, which is refreshing in an online setting. The online classroom allows students from all over the world to learn and exchange ideas, and bring an incredible array of informed discussion to virtually any topic. The professors at APUS/AMU have been knowledgeable in their chosen fields, and generous with their time and attention to the coursework. The only drawback that I experienced in attending APUS/AMU was an occasional delay in waiting for a professor to unlock the next week's course material. There was no opportunity to get ahead on the amount of reading/research.

Degree: Environmental Science
Graduation Year: 2018

The biggest pro is that the whole program is offered online and new classes begin each month. The con is that the classes are online and I do not get the ability to ask questions instantly when they come up, but must wait for an email response. Also, sometimes, email just can not explain a concept as well as actually speaking with a professor and having visual cues.

Degree: Management
Graduation Year: 2016

As an active duty military member, being able to pursue my Master's degree in Management with a concentration in Organizational Leadership couples with my duties of mentoring as a leader. I am fortunate to be part of this defense organization that really cares for its members. American Military University (more widely known as American Public University System) has really guided my studies and enabled me to view the different aspects to leadership while fundamentally enabling me to reevaluate my own leadership characteristics. I am extremely glad to be a part of this educational institution and look forward to continual studies! -Jared Nieves

This grad school allows you to get out of it what you put into it. Each class's difficulty is dependent on the teacher of the course, which is a positive and a negative thing. The class times are very reasonable and the workload is manageable. I am about halfway through the program and have not have an incredibly negative experience yet. There are some teachers that I wish interacted with more of the forum posts or aligned the posts to reflect a discussion rather than a mini paper, but you will have that difficulty with all online programs. Financially with TA the classes are manageable except for some of the books that need to be purchased.
