I like the online courses available at AMU. A challenge for online classes is there is less connection with the professor

This is a great graduate program for those who are working full-time and military members who are constantly moving. The online capacity is very flexible, although there is a considerable amount of homework. All the professors are friendly and available, but you must be able to work independently with minimal help. Courses are quality and the cost of a graduate degree with APUS is lower than most comparable Universities. A negative is there is little to no career support and there are no opportunities for internships. Overall I would recommend this program for any working professional that has a desire to complete a higher degree.

APU gives students more than enough resources and advice to succeed in your graduate courses. Advisers help guide you and answer any questions you may have. They help student’s complete enrollment and all other necessary and useful assistance such as financial aid procedures.

Degree: Psychology
Graduation Year: 2015

The pros of my program is that it is economical and convenient due to the course work being available on-line. The cons of my graduate program are applying for scholarships and my school is not included in the drop down school options. Also, there are no financial grants or scholarships from AMU. Thank you.

I absolutely love American Public University! My only regret is that I didn't hear of them before now, and had the opportunity to earn my BSBA from this school. The online experience has been way more accessible and easier to learn than my first online experience in getting my bachelor's degree. I would highly recommend APU, especially to working adults.

The strategic intelligence program was very comprehensive and the quality of the teaching staff was high. Course work was relevant and not overpowering. The capstone project and required forum submissions needs improvement. the capstone comprehensive exam was a timed event that provided little advanced warning to the student as to what the test would entail. I felt the preparation leading up to the exam was not sufficient. The requirements for obtaining the honors label to the master's degree was contingent on a very high grade on the comprehensive exam. The grading on the exam however was very subjective. I was one of the individuals that did not receive honor even though my GPA was more than sufficient. It all came down to the subjective grading of one test.

Able to interact with students and teachers from all walks of life. Student advisors are always eager to help as are the librarians. I now have many life-long friends. Am not sorry that I went through this University. My research for papers has led me down many paths and has significantly added to my life and my knowledge base. Benefits of online learning are many. Transportation and lodging are not issues, I can work, take care of my family, and work on my studies. APUS has social groups and honor societies; also tutoring is available. Majority of Professors are deserving of praise as with brick and mortar.

Pros: - Professors are all very passionate and knowledgeable in their areas of specialty - Courses are very well structured and applicable with hands on classes first quarter - Lots of resources to aid in success – free tutoring program for students by students was particularly helpful - Campus is beautiful and the state of the art anatomy lab is an amazing opportunity and an experience that you will carry with you for the rest of your life Cons: - Tuition itself is extremely expensive and intimidating – as with most doctorate level programs
