Expensive, but it worked out for me. I made lasting friendships, got my first job at the university, and learned a lot.

Intimate location on the outskirts of Washington DC. Mix of intellectual and real world experience professors. Student life is what I expected, but one downside was no football team.

I am a new student at American University, but I love the school already. The faculty are sincere, prompt, and truly have your best interests at heart. I also am impressed with the Financial Aid Office's staff. They have helped me many times with getting my finances for school in order.

Degree: Real Estate Management
Graduation Year: 2018

This is a great program if you want small classes and individual attention. Professors are available to discuss your work and how to use what you are learning in the future. You have access to a range of professionals that come and speak during class periods. There are also many networking opportunities outside of class with alumni and organizations.

American University's Kogod School of business is an excellent institution staffed with the highest quality professors and instructors. Professors are leaders in their field: executives in residence, tenured professionals, and thought leaders active in their industry and professional associations. Kogod provides its students with abundant resources, from generous office hours and accessibility of its esteemed professors, to an active career guidance center, to free tutoring, to on-campus events geared toward gleaning the most prepared young professionals coming out of its various programs.

Degree: Communications (Strategic & Organizational)
Graduation Year: 2018

American University is located in a politically thriving area, better known as our Nations Capital. Though the university is tucked away from the hustle and bustle, the access and opportunity is abundant in such a small area. Although we do not have a football team, our school spirit and comradely runs high through school based activities. What I enjoy most are the professional opportunities where various schools and programs invite guest speakers and have employers handy so that students can get comfortable with interviewing and talking to persons with hiring power. As a student of the School of Communication, we are one of the closest schools to the library and to my personal opinion, have one of the best views on campus! One of the greatest advantages of the School of Communication is the relationships between students and professors. Many of the professors have extensive work history and partnerships within the fields that we are studying to strive and be apart in. The myth of graduate students are in another world doesnt fly at American, students mix and mingle everyday on the quad and student center.

Degree: Secondary Education
Graduation Year: 2001

American University's MAT: Secondary Education for Social Studies was a degree well worth my time and money. I was able to learn practical teaching skills in schools that have been on the forefront of our changing public school system, while learning philosophical underpinnings from dedicated and passionate faculty that truly care about making the future better through education. While I felt highly prepared for my field, the earning potential of a teaching degree is, by its nature, limited. However, I felt my time in DC schools and my master's degree were bonuses for every job I interviewed at. The program did its best to set students up in good student teaching situations, and to keep their ears open for good job opportunities in the city for its graduating students. Besides that, the campus offers the best parts of city living mixed with the open space of a residential area on the fringe of the city. It is in one of the safest parts of DC while still allowing quick and easy transport to more central, busy areas. All in all I am extremely happy with American University and all it had to offer - a little bit of everything for everyone, and a great education to boot.

I am honored to be studying International Security at the American University. I am receiving practical knowledge on how to aid and serve people, without the discrimination of who they are, where they come from, or where they are located in the world. I cannot wait to pursue a successful career in International Security which will have a positive impact on the lives of people around the world.
