Student & Graduate Reviews

Degree: Business Administration
Graduation Year: 2016

Pros: I love the online offerings. I work full time as a teacher, so to be able to take online courses is crucial. The online courses are well organized and my teachers are attentive and good at communicating. Cons: It's expensive and I wish there were more financial aid opportunities. I had trouble setting up my account in the beginning and went round and round playing phone tag with people before I finally got it set up. The instructions could be more clear.

Ashland is a great place to obtain a Teaching Certification. The faculty is well versed in the subject areas that they teach.

In general, there were really not too many negative things to say about the program. It has been a wonderful program for me so far, and I can't wait to see where it takes me.

Degree: Creative Writing
Graduation Year: 2015

This low-residency program has high impact. The two weeks each summer on campus is packed full of literary and academic experiences with excellent faculty and guest speakers. The online courses throughout the year with just three our four other classmates allows for personal instruction and meaningful peer interaction. Expectation for excellent work results in a rigorous learning experience.

It is an unbelievable program that I have little but pros to say. I have had a wonderful experience that has enriched my learning and understanding of the field of clinical counseling.

The pros is the small time frame I need to complete my teaching certificate. Another pro is that the classes are offered nights and weekend. The cons is the price.

Ashland is very supportive to working professionals. For example, the faculty and staff are dedicated to their professions and committed to supporting the students at Ashland.

The pros of the Columbus campus are convenience and flexibility of class schedules and excellent teachers. The cons are the high cost per credit hour, lack of networking after completing program and the location on 161 is pretty sketchy.

Degree: Sociology
Graduation Year: 2008

The institution is very prestigious, and the sociology program was very challenging. I feel that my college prepared me for my career but did not assist me in finding a career after graduation. I was not informed on the realities of the major that I chose, which are that a bachelor's degree is really insufficient in this field. In addition, the financial aid office advised me to take out private loans, which in my opinion was terrible advice. I have not been able to find a job in my field, and my student loans are $600 a month with no possibility of deferment, forbearance, or income-based repayment because they are not federal loans.
