Good evening. This will be long but I am writing this to help save students from making the same mistakes I did. I signed up for the Software Development Online Accelerated Program (Cohort) and i am drastically disappointed. In my opinion these classes are set up to be filled with "busy work" only. You are looking at least 4 assignments a week per class and 3 of the 4 are forum postings where you have to reply to your fellow students forum posts about 4 times throughout the week. An alarming amount... Read More of the assignments have nothing to do with the reading for the week. You get absolutely 0 feedback or assistance from the instructors. No videos, audios or anything that might assist the student. If this is your first time programming like me you will be extremely lost because their instructions on how to start are very vague. I spent a great deal of time watching youtube videos just to figure out how to complete the programming assignments. It cost $415 per credit hour plus $350 per book to watch youtube videos. Perhaps you are thinking this is my own fault as a student? Well lets talk about some other issues i encountered. I didnt have access to my email for the first 11 weeks of school. I called the schools hotline a total of 9 times in the first 4 weeks of class to receive help. EACH time i never got an answer. Because i didnt know how to even begin one of my classes because of the vague instructions i called the instructor directly. His reply was "post any issue in the forums and see if the other students can assist." I struggled so much to teach myself java that i tried to get an online tutor from the school, but nobody answered. I attempted leaving notes in my programming saying that i couldn't quite figure out how to get some part of the program to work. The comments i received on my assignments was "multiple syntax errors." When i first started to learn C# i somehow accidentally saved my program incorrectly. When i discovered the mistake i emailed the instructor (got email on week 11) and told him of my mistake. I included in the email a copy of the programming so he knew i actually completed the assignment and asked if i could possibly resubmit. I never received a reply and got a 0 on the assignment. I called the school the next day to drop out of the cohort after this winter term. Now i cant blame all of this entirely on the instructors. Some of this is the colleges fault. The book content not matching the assignment, the multiple forum postings, and either a research paper or group project per class is all stuff i believe dictated by the school. This school seems to have forgotten the meaning of the word education. However, if you are already a programmer and just want to receive your degree as quickly as possible and you dont mind a bunch of busy work then this would be perfect for you because the way its set up feels as if they expect the students to already know what they are doing. If you are new to programming and actually want to learn something in college. Do not attend this school.

I had only attended the online course for 3 semesters but I would like to take the time out and submit a proper review hitting all points of this school. I am a veteran and like many others that were attending with me, this school is a joke. They, like companies, will start off as friendly, accommodating, and helpful but as soon as they have you in that is when it all goes down from there. I urge all veterans if you do decide to attend this school do not i repeat do not waste your gi bill on it if... Read More you choose to use financial aid. They will use your financial aid initially to pay for their own overly high tuition and then return your GI Bill payment back to you almost 6-8 weeks after the semester has already started. They also will not allow you to use your aid for books if you haven't already signed up and received approval 2-3 weeks before the semester begins. I literally had to wait until halfway through my first semester to get books and then work day and night to catch up with classmates that weren't all that intelligent. Also, if you have JST transcripts make sure that they are submitted officially and unofficially before you even start courses because they will either not look at them and start you in general classes you don't need or will and won't add them until after you've reminded them to multiple times so that you can skip the rest of general studies you already know. The veteran office has a few workers that are knowledgeable but some are immature if you tend to micromanage them with how soon they process your certifications. The classes are not difficult but the resources are over priced and you can find used books for far cheaper on amazon so do not use the book store. Upon them receiving knowledge that i was no longer returning, they made it a point to respond late and some times not at all and they have rules for your financial aid that coincide with your GPA that are not legal. I don't recommend any veteran to attend this school but if you do i would say proceed with caution because it is a joke.. Granted there are some good professors the majority are not the best and you can tell they are just doing it as a side gig.

My experience ranges about 9 years. I started at BU in 2009 with the Criminal Justice Administration BS degree. I completed the major in about a year and had to complete general education classes. I would say the major was rather easy, but being an active LEO helped with assignments. I had to drop out in 2011 after my first semester of general education classes. This was due to BU's finance department screwing up my VA payments. I received a letter in the mail from the VA stating they over paid me... Read More $7,000. I contacted my congressman, and after 18 months of fighting the VA, a settlement of $900 was agreed upon. I just returned to BU on June 4, 2018. I noticed the student coaching is much improved, the financial department is much improved, and as of 2012, it appears more safeguards are in place for the Post 9/11 GI Bill. I began with the Kirkpatrick Signature Series. If anyone is sweating this, stop. It is not a big deal. I dedicated most of my personal time from June 4th -June 25th, and completed every single assignment. All that was left was the volunteering which was easy as well. This class is designed to pad your GPA and make you more aware of the political system. On August 27, 2018, I begin my final three month semester at BU. I will be completing three general education classes and have my degree conferred. If you were to ask me a year ago about BU, I would say that this is a terrible school. However, I can satisfactorily state that BU has come a long way, and should be respected.

Lastly, all my online classes (Hi152, EN102, and Bi206) helped me improve my writing skills, developed my confidence and critical thinking while participating in the online discussion boards. I highly recommend anyone who is seeking to further their education to consider Bellevue University. Bellevues curriculum, academic material for online classes and fees are affordable in comparison to most universities. You wont regret your time at Bellevue university if you are a hard-working and dedicated student. 

Bellevue University was a great experience for me. The class content was challenging and very informative. The project management degree is acredited by the Project Management Institute and the classes are definitely not easy. The instructors explain the content well and give professional critical feedback on your assignments to help you understand the material. This is the small university that most people take the online class to earn a master degree. It is not hard to pass the class and get the degree. Some courses are useful, such as CIS 515 IT infrastructure, and cloud computing. Some courses are useless such as CIS 520. I don't know why they choose this course for an IT student. I was in the first graduating class from Bellevue College, later Bellevue University. The original campus was a Quonset hut just off the USAF base (OFFETT). My most memorable instructor was Professor M.; he taught psychology and HR classes. I was his student aid for Human Relations. I was allowed to transfer in a fair number of USAFI course credits. This review is for the Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science as well as a Master's degree in Human Resource Strategic Management. B.S. in Behavioral Science: I would rate it 8 out of 10 The classes were challenging however, as with most online colleges, you are left to do a lot of reading to learn. The professor provided video discussions which was greatly appreciated and respectable (A+ for that). The discussion boards made me question their effectiveness, as it can be quite difficult to approach... I wish the professor was more involved with discussions. However, although I didn't like this aspect I feel it made me learn how to object to others' opinions more respectfully. For all those who think that you can begin to practice in a counseling setting- DO YOUR HOMEWORK (excuse the pun)! IN MOST STATES YOU WILL NEED AT LEAST A MASTER'S AND THOUSANDS OF HOURS OF INTERNSHIP BEFORE YOU CAN PRACTICE. If you do not research the requirements in your state please do not blame Bellevue for your inability to practice with only your Bachelor's degree. The Bellevue curriculum is sufficient in preparing you for further education in the field if you study hard. Worst thing about this degree: The Kirkpatrick Signature Series. It was basically 12 weeks of Political Science and History, and being in a major that relies mostly on theory, the teacher does not allow you to have a difference of opinion from him (even when supported by valid references). Other than that I would suggest going to Bellevue for your degree in Behavioral Science if you are actually interested in the inner-workings of behavior; you will learn a lot if you apply yourself. Just hone in on your history and political science knowledge.... and remember your degree won't be just handed to you- you're going to have to earn it in this discipline. Master's of Science in Human Resource Strategic Management: 8 out of 10 I would give the program a higher rating however I am just finishing the third class. So far the material, assignments and discussions are relevant and effective. I am about to switch teachers yet this teacher has been attentive and educational. The discussion boards are still awkward; I feel more emphasis should be made on discussions between professors and students. I learned a lot more from the teacher's feedback than the students'. Look, stop forcing people to have two uncomfortable "conversations" with students. It doesn't work. I want to learn from someone with knowledge on the matter, not struggle to correct another student. Please Bellevue, find another way to engage students with one another. Even though the collaborative projects are terrible (as our grade depends on the contribution of all parties) sprinkle those in the curriculum and stop making us answer others' discussion posts so much! Also, if the student receives a grade of less than 100% professors should provide feedback, giving the student a chance to improve their grade the next go-around. Okay. I'm done with the venting. I have done extensive studying and devoted much time to my assignments and I feel it is paying off. Aside from the regular frustrations you will feel in this program (and doing online courses) at this school, I would recommend this program. I've learned a lot already about Human Resources, and anticipate much more learning.The teacher answers all questions quickly and completely, and furthers discussions when necessary (A+) and is a great contributor to your learning. Worst thing about this degree: We are forced to respond to discussion posts from peers. Please create a way where we can respond to the professor's questions instead. The professor will be able to more easily gauge our learned knowledge, and students won't have to be forced to replying with sub-par responses. Overall, I still recommend Bellevue University. I have attend other online universities (Ashford and Capella) and have seen these same problems that I have listed. Bellevue is more affordable and their curriculum is comparable to the schools I have attended before.

I attended Bellevue University and received a Bachelor of Science in MIS. I had a great experience. I graduated on time without any issues. The date I was told I would be finished is when I finished. My advisor was great as well as the other advisors that helped me when she was out of the office. The online cohort is very fast paced and very demanding. There were many nights that I stayed up late and worked on assignments for several days. You will have several projects and many papers where you... Read More must demonstrate your knowledge and show that you are learning. Additionally, you will need to complete the KSS. Those courses require volunteer work and many papers along with it's own "capstone". Mines was around 45 pages at the end. This does not include the 45 page paper for my core courses. Bellevue University requires time management and dedication just like any other university and it IS a brick and mortar school. In the end it was all worth it for me.

I have two more semesters to go once I complete my current one - five weeks left! I am glad to see so many positive reviews as it has mirrored my experience at the school. My professors have been wonderful - particularly Professor Bergeron, who has taught all the classes for my major, thus far. Overall, the school has made me a better writer, researcher, and thinker. Which brings me to the negative reviews I saw as I scrolled through. None of the experiences these other students have written reflect mine. It is like I am reading about another school - entirely. Moreover, the review from a student who is a digital marketing major, my major, is somewhat misguided. While it is my understanding that this major will be eliminated and rolled under marketing, all students who are currently enrolled in the major will continue and graduate with a BS, not BA in Digital Marketing. I believe that I am among that last group - graduating next summer. I have been pleased with all my classes and professors. Again, it's not easy, but well worth the effort .

The student coach are always calling to ask how I'm doing, and if I need anything else. Professors will make sure you are learning by making discussions challenging while they use a good sense of humor. The enough interactions and assignments that they provide, will definitely help you in your future career. Putting into practice what you are learning is what stays with you for a life time. J. S. informed me via telephone on August 7th at 12:33 pm PST that I had fulfilled all requirements for the degree program of Digital Marketing. This information was also followed up and confirmed by student coach, D. N. on August 7th, 2017. As of today, I have been informed that this information, in fact, incorrect. This is an official request for a detailed context summary of today's conversation in writing, including the acknowledgment by T. G. at 2:22 pm on August 11th, that she was directed... Read More to not answer or return my calls or voicemails regarding this matter. The following is a copy of my initial email sent out on July 27th, 2017: I am currently filling out the complaint form and I would like to request a call from the Dean of Students as soon as possible. In addition, I also request a different point of contact moving forward as I am no longer comfortable working with D. D. on these matters. I find it very alarming that during my phone conversation with D. D. yesterday, he not only abrasively dismissed my concerns and withheld contacts from speaking with me but also insultingly laughed at me and abruptly ended the conversation only to follow up with a professional and seemingly warm email. The paper trail cover-up is quite apparent and I do not appreciate it. My current student coach, D. N. is out on vacation and so I spoke with A. in her place and she informed me that Mr. D. deliberately instructed her to not forward my message to T. but only to him. This is quite concerning being that I, very clearly, asked to speak specifically with T. as she made her self very approachable and listened with intent. D.'s response to this was "T. answers to me". At this point, I've left voicemails and called T. numerous times with no answer or response. I also asked Mr. D. if I could speak with the Dean a number of times and he continued to repeat "I can't do that for you, just fill out the complaint form". My experience at Bellevue, thus far, has been less than ideal, in fact, I would go as far as to say it was an unfortunate and unprofessional calamity. In the beginning, I cringed at the amount of spelling and grammatical errors in almost all of my appointed assignments but chalked it up to careless student aids doing the work for busy professors. I quickly learned that was not the case after receiving various emails from different professors and realizing the errors extended throughout all communication outlets. Though these are small and insignificant grammatical errors (especially compared to the spelling mistakes in the actual program's assignments), you might understand how it could be discouraging coming from a professor. It just proves a lack of care and academic credibility. As time went on, I came across some classes where after weeks of completing the assignments, I was unable to move forward because none of the submitted assignments were graded and without grades, the assignments following were unable to be viewed. I reached out to my student coach whom, to my surprise, no longer worked for Bellevue. I explained my story to the newly appointed student coach and she transferred me to someone who could help me. I received a voicemail recording, left a message and never received a callback (This has become a very apparent pattern throughout my time at Bellevue, I have almost never received a callback from anyone I have ever left a message for and I have been appointed at least five different student coaches since I began!). So I waited a few days and called back only to find I have been appointed yet another student coach! I explained the story once again, got transferred and finally got the problem resolved. Apparently, there was no communication between the school and my professor to let him know that he actually had a class so he was unable to verify my attendance and it dropped me not only from his class but, also the program altogether. This put me way behind schedule and there was a possibility of actually having to pay for the class again! I demanded the class at no additional costs because I did nothing wrong and it was indeed granted. I have been dropped from the program on three different occasions now!!! This seems absolutely absurd for an establishment of higher education. The last time this happened, my professor personally called me and tried to get me to NOT contact the school and to "work something out between the two of us". I assured him that he did nothing wrong and that it was a lack of communication between the University and himself. After all, I had been through this twice now and was familiar with the mistake. He aggressively spoke over me as if I was accusing him of doing something wrong and once the call ended, he almost immediately followed up and yet again tried to persuade me to not contact the school. It was very unprofessional and made me feel like he was trying to get me to be secretive and somehow beat the system. The problem has never been resolved, he has never been able to view the first five assignments I submitted. After the Assistant Director instructed me, in writing, to do so, I emailed copies of my assignments to my professor from my personal email account without going through the actual program. As of right now, those assignments have not been graded. The time before that, my professor was on a cross country road trip and was absolutely startled by the fact that he was not told he had a class at that time. He assured me he would call me back as soon as they stopped driving and he could look into what was going on. I never heard from him again. I am about to complete my BA in Digital Marketing, a program that will be terminated after my completion unbeknownst to me before I began. In addition to the program being terminated, there are no other "peers" in it, I am the only student in this program which makes it impossible to fulfill the "peer to peer" portion of all of my classes and also makes it impossible for the school to satisfy their end of this educational contract. This not only affects a large portion of my grade but also greatly influences the overall results of my scholarly gains throughout this program. Had I known from the beginning that this program was to be terminated and that I was the only student involved, I would have never ever gone forward with it as those are just too many red flags for my comfort level. I truly feel I was bamboozled and fell through the cracks time and time again as the unrecognized single student in a program no one cares about any longer. I do not have a lot of money and this is a huge financial burden for me so had I known I was about to begin a failing program, I would have never ever done so. In addition to feeling duped by the actual contract I signed up for, I was assured I would have no payments due until six months after graduation but to my surprise, yet again, I was recently contacted by my student coach informing me that I was about to go to collections for past due bills! I didn't understand how this was possible as I received no notice and I was guaranteed no necessary payments for months to come. Well, it turns out that the three times I spoke with different IT members asking them to forward all of my BRUIN emails to my personal email fell on deaf ears. It still has never been linked and I did not receive the notice so I had to desperately scramble and come up with $700 to stop my account from being sent to collections. In addition, I have received notices that on the following dates "Interest has accrued on my account": 9/8/16 5/30/17 6/8/17 How is this possible if I am not to owe anything until six months after graduation? I spoke with a financial advisor at the school and she informed me there is no official graduation date listed in my file so it is possible that interest is accruing. Again, another misconception and breach of contract. I still have yet to understand how all of these Peer-to-Peer classes are able to be completed without any peers. I feel that Bellevue University did not follow through on many occasions but most significantly on the financial contract of exactly what I am paying for. I am including all of my various contacts from Bellevue on this email in the hopes that someone will comply with my initial requests to have this escalated to the Dean's office. This will be my final attempt to address this matter via this channel. If it does not happen, I will be exploring outside options including the Better Business Bureau and accreditation and oversight entities. In addition, I will be filing an official complaint with the Department of Education if there is not some form of financial restitution given the situation.

I transferred in from a J-co and pursued a Bachelors Degree at Bellevue. It was odd doing most on line work, but after awhile I grew to like it. Most instructors were pretty good, albeit there were a turkey or two along the way. I felt that my writing improved, my analysis of the subject matter improved, and my ability to analyze a wide variety of subjects, has definitely improved. I feel fairly well prepared for the work market. I graduate soon--so I cannot say much about job market, income, etc.... Read More However, my Brother attended a traditional 4 year large State College and he feels the material at Bellevue is comparable, if not more comprehensive. Bellevue is not cheap, financial aid is occasionally a weakness, but I feel I obtained a good degree, for my investment.

Bellevue University offered me a quality education and a fantastic opportunity to advance my law enforcement career. Following graduation, I obtained a federal agent job offer (1811) and have since worked my way up to a senior manager (Assistant Special Agent in Charge) position at my organization. The education I received transferred well to my Graduate studies at top 50 nationally ranked university where I recently obtained my M.P.S in Homeland Security.
