"Belmont has a beautiful campus and in a city that provides a great backdrop for opportunity. However, I do feel that the sales job of what we thought were far and away advantages of attending Belmont, did not come to fruition. It is extremely expensive for what they offer and throughout the years of COVID, tuition rose each year while students were not even attending in-person classes. We paid a premium to go to Belmont, yet no reduction in tuition was given, even though classes were online. In fact, tuition rose each year. The internship program from what I witnessed was a joke. Very little help in obtaining an internship was offered. Not only was there no internship, no credit was received, yet still paid over $6k for nothing. To add to everything else, Belmont built a beautiful performing arts building and named it after their recently retired president. However, it was never open and ultimately never saw the inside of the space, even though I’m certain a large chunk of tuition went towards paying for this extravagant auditorium that seemingly was never open. In the end, we are left with an immense debt due to receiving no break, scholarship or other on tuition, even though came in with a 3.7 GPA. No internship, nor job opportunities upon graduation and even when reaching out to professors who had communicated their willingness to help, never returned emails. If you’re looking to get into live/studio production, I would highly recommend Blackbird Studios. It’s a 6mos hands-on program for $24k and will land you a job that you have experience in vs taking a bunch of classes that are useless for a career in live or studio production. That compared to a $200k degree (they like to tout how much aid is given out, which I find hard to believe, considering we received nothing)and no job prospects coming out of graduation. Very disappointed with the overall experience compared to what seemed to be the promise of what a Belmont education offers it’s students."

"Belmont will put on a great presentation during their “Belmont Day” and orientation on how much they care and cannot wait for you to call Belmont home. Wrong. Once you get there it’s a total different vibe. I had to move in early and had absolutely no help. The RA’s just stood and looked at me. When I had gotten back to my dorm that night after rehearsal I asked my RA’s at 9:03 if they could help me unloft my bed because it was too high up for me to even put anything on it and they said they got off at 9 and are on personal time. I let them know my situation again and they came up, looked at my bed and said “jesus christ we work 9-9 we’ll do it in morning.” I slept on a mattress on the floor that night with no working ac. The RA’s never helped I had to call maintenance the next day. Fast forward to classes starting. I don’t come from a wealthy family so obviously I applied for as many loans and grants as I could but Belmont would only accept me for so much. It was not even a week after classes started they had asked me to make a payment (we’ve been calling trying to set up a decent payment plan for what we could work with and try to get some help getting other loans and they would never call back) or my fall term and housing would be canceled by the next day. I called them numerous times as well as my mom to get told we had to pay 5000 then no matter what other loans i could get and then another 4000 every two weeks three times. I’m sorry but no one has that kind of money just sitting around. The professors and advisors are great and really care for the students. Admissions and Financial not so much. I was given no other option other than to withdraw because I could not pull 5000 dollars out of my pocket that day. I had to pack my stuff and be out by midnight that night. I’m not from Tennessee so I had to get a hotel room with my loaded car so I could get some sleep before my drive home. Belmont is nothing but money hungry and a joke. Please find a different school that’s cheaper and will genuinely care about you all the way through. Save your times and tears."

"It is disappointing how students and veterans of the graduate school were treated during the spring semester when COVID 19 hit and in-person classes were cancelled. The university compromised its academic integrity in some courses and “put the screws” to students in others, after restricting on campus access. If we wanted to go to school online, we would pay less and do that elsewhere, but we saw the advantage of learning in a classroom and studying with our peers. A few questions to consider: -What percentage of veterans enrolled at the Massey Graduate School of Business were involuntarily unrolled from future classes because of performance during the spring of 2020? -What was their overall GPA before the spring semester? -What additional resources were offered to these struggling students? -Why would you pour salt in the wounds by asking them to write a letter to the dean explaining their poor performance and also requiring them to explain how they are going to “fix their problem?” -Why is the automatic assumption that the student put forth little to no effort? The university is seemingly not recognizing the impact their changes made to the students after their resources were restricted. Finally, if the student put forth considerable effort and believed that they did their best in the course, wouldn’t writing the letter of explanation to the dean violate that student’s integrity? I know Belmont values integrity. I’ve read the Honor Code. How do I reconcile this?"

"It's hard to justify a Music Business degree, no matter how generously you slice it. Still, academics aside, I loved going to Belmont. I grew tremendously in character and confidence in their student leadership opportunities, and I treasure the friendships I made with students and staff alike. It's a beautiful campus with beautiful people, I simply question my choice to study Music Business here or anywhere."

"Belmont was an excellent university to attend and the music therapy faculty prioritized my success and well-being. The school has made an effort to change their general education curriculum as well as their music therapy program to continue to meet the needs of the student body."

  • Degree: Law
"This Law School is a scam. They keep their BAR passage rates high by cutting 1/3 of the class after the first semester. It is common to attend, pay massive tuition bills, and receive absolutely nothing in return even if you receive all passing grades. Professors are required to adhere to pre-determined system that dictates what percentage of students they need to fail. They rake in tuition for the first semester and then drop any student who they think may not pass the BAR on the first shot. Do not go here if you think theres a chance in hell that you may struggle a tiny bit because Bs and a C or two will leave you with a dismissal letter and without the possibility of attending another law school."

  • Degree: Philosophy
"The philosophy program was incredible, due to its small department size. The courses provided a rigorous survey of the history of philosophy, and opened a space for individuals to also craft their own interests from these philosophical foundations. Additionally, I had the incredible opportunity of participating in two independent studies wherein the professors allowed me to help create the structure of the one-on-one lessons, ensuring that the material would best align with my own research interests. This type of flexibility within the course work and attunement unto the individual student's passions is extremely rare in educational institutions, especially during undergraduate. Overall, the professors made Belmont an incredible place to attend for undergraduate studies. Belmont as an institution, however, has many critical problems. The most severe being its ridiculously high tuition cost. Additionally, they do not offer much scholarship for academic performance, and do not prioritize scholarship as a whole within the institution. The college is primarily know for its music business program, which provides decent connections (due to its location in being in Nashville), but these connections come at too high a price, and the actually classes seem to be washed down business courses (I originally entered the school studying music business and quickly became frustrated with the program, thus switching my major to philosophy and my minor to mathematics). Belmont's prioritization of the business school was additionally reflected through the paychecks of students on campus jobs. I was a mathematic tutor for a few semester, but eventually had to drop the job since it only paid minimal wage (around $7 per hour), as I had high college tuition to cover. However, my peers who worked at Belmont's record store received $10 an hour. Furthermore, the tutors were often overloaded with students seeking our help, whereas the students working at the record store would often nap on the couches during their shift. Also, lots of shady undercurrents within the institution (cough cough... Belmont University continues to maintain financial relations to CoreCivic, the worlds largest prison company). The professors within the mathematics and philsophy department where all incredible, and where what kept me at Belmont, as well as other scholarships I applied to outside the school."

"The university was a valuable experience that I do not regret. The cost of the program is a little high compared to other options. The school is in a great city and I have fallen in love with Nashville. Some programs such as business, music, and nursing would be recommended at Belmont, while other programs are not the same quality."

"Belmont DOES NOT care about its disabled students. I was told that my two prior ADHD evaluations, the latest done at the start of high school, were not enough to warrant accommodations. I was an out of state student, and I was forced to find a psychiatrist in Nashville willing to evaluate me, and pay the roughly $1500 cost for the evaluation. I got the evaluation, confirming that yes, I did in fact still have a learning disability, and sent in my new diagnosis to the office, which then proceeded to ignore my emails and give excuses in person about how my learning disability wasn't bad enough, despite my official diagnosis saying the opposite. On top of that, I was straight up bullied by girls in my dorm, and instead of helping me, the RA joined in, and the school did nothing- as far as I know she is still an RA. I transferred after the first semester and the disability office at my new university was appalled, and I was even told that if Belmont had not been a religious institution that they may have been in violation of the ADA standards. If you are a student with a learning disability who expects to be treated fairly and with respect, DO NOT choose Belmont. Plus, church is mandatory and you can only have students of the opposite gender in your room during the day AND you have to sign them in. Save your money and go somewhere else."

"Belmont is a great school, especially if you get into one of its best programs, including music, music business, general business, or nursing. Even if you're not benefitting from one of those programs, there are plenty of opportunities to pursue your passions in Nashville, whether in jobs, internships, or community groups. Belmont is small, but it doesn't exist in a bubble. If you want real-world experience, Nashville is ready for you. To prospective students, I can tell you that Belmont immediately feels like home. Students and faculty alike are full of energetic passion for what they do, campus is beautiful, people smile at you and say hi when you pass, and even though there are growing pains associated with the extreme growth the school has experienced under its current president's tenure, if you take advantage of the opportunities all around you, Belmont will push you forward in the best way. If given the opportunity, I would do it all again. Go Bruins!"

"You will know your professors at Belmont, and they will know you. Your assessments will be more varied than at a large state school, where so much is test-based. You'll make presentations, write papers, construct blogs, videos, or other media, and you'll be graded on participation. That being said, the school doesn't offer a lot in the way of diversity. Students come from all over the country, but are predominantly white. Sports also aren't a huge focus. So, if you're looking for extravagant game days and school pride, Belmont may not be what you're looking for. Religious courses are required at Belmont, but it doesn't feel like professors are pushing their specific belief systems, and classes are typically a mix of people who identify themselves as Christian, and people who identify as agnostic, or "spiritual," but not religious, or practice other religions."

"I went to this school to get my degree and that's exactly what I did. I felt some of the classes my first year were beneath me because I was enrolled in the graduate program and there were undergraduates in my class. I felt many classes were unnecessary and I could have been exempt from them. The professors were friendly but I did not spend time on campus outside of class."

"Belmont University has opened so many doors for me and I have only been in graduate school for a semester. The faculty is comprised of highly experienced industry leaders and well-known research academics. I am in the healthcare management program and the degree curriculum is carefully planned out, so that I know every class I will be taking and when for the next two years. The program is part-time, geared towards healthcare professionals, and is designed so that you graduate in two years. Taking the plunge to get my MBA at Belmont was the best decision I ever made."
