Boston University is incredibly expensive and the city of Boston is incredibly expensive. However, the instruction I received is just what I needed and wanted. This was a top choice school because of the people that I would be able to connect with and learn from. I have learned from internationally acclaimed Eric Ruske, Bruno Schnieder, Gunther Schuller, and many members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Boston Pops, and other high-caliber artists. The level of excellence expected of students is among the highest. I was very fortunate to have a scholarship and also a G.A. position to help pay for my education. If you inquire and search for a way to make the money work, you will often find some opportunities to do so. Also, I rated the use of technology lower because of the lack of it! For example, the music library doesn't have a card swipe system to check out materials - the information is hand written.

This graduate school is outstanding - the professors are passionate and care deeply about our ability to learn and grow. The curriculum is fascinating and well organized. I feel that I got wonderful support from my advisor and my peers. I absolutely love my school! The cost of living is quite high in Boston, but the quality of living is also very high. There is a ton of history in the city and lots to do!

My professors are highly qualified and extremely knowledgeable. However, many of them are doing too many things outside of teaching at BU to be supportive outside of the classroom. In the classroom they are often too rushed to finish everything that they do not have much time for questions. The workload is manageable, however, having everything due the first week of December without clear explanations of what is expected until a few weeks before then is another con. I was very lucky that two due dates were changed. However, I do feel that I will have no problem getting a job by graduating with a degree from BU.

The 6 month Dietetic internship is included in the program, while most people have to wait two years in the national match program for placement. The professors are extremely knowledgeable and happy to help. They always have their doors open and truly are vested in seeing their students grow, learn, and achieve.

Great diversity of programs and courses, but the urban location of the Medical Campus does not allow for a campus feel.

Boston University is an excellent university which propels its' graduate students to meet exceedingly high standards while giving them great support to get there. Unfortunately, the political science department lags behind those of other high profile universities. It is small, which means it is very difficult to find a Ph.D. committee and to find professors who share one's research interests. It does not even remotely equip its' graduate students in methods training, offering only two mediochre mandatory courses.
