Degree: Holistic Medicine
Graduation Year: 2021

The culture of learning and the focus on health at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine at the California Institute of Integral Studies creates an inspiring environment for studying acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM.) Not only are the instructors experienced both clinically and in the classroom, but they offer exceptional professional support and personal connection. The combination of theory and classroom learning is well balanced by clinical experience. Ancient scientific knowledge is complimented perfectly with modern integrated medical systems for a truly holistic education. I am honored to be learning in this program and feel I am being well prepared for a career in acupuncture and TCM.

The Counseling Psychology Degree at CIIS prepares students emotionally, intellectually, and empathetically to provide caring, non-judgmental support to those to whom they provide therapy. Because of the school's multifaceted and integral approach to psychoanalysis, students receive a well-rounded education, enabling them to excel in many treatment modalities. I have a hard time imagining a school that could better prepare one to serve as a clinician than CIIS.

CIIS is an innovative university, with several programs delving into alternative approaches to psychology and mental health. The staff are inclusive and supportive and the curriculum pushes students to think outside of mainstream notions of knowledge and truth. Whatever your passion, there is a niche at CIIS for you - from expressive arts, to drama, to transpersonal psychology, and more. CIIS also prepares students for their career field with a plethora of practicum and internship sites, which provides students with a network of community partnerships after graduation. One feels equally emotionally and educationally supported and stimulated at CIIS.

CIIS is pretty diverse school in multiple aspects in a pretty diverse city. There is compassionate listening and support for student needs, but the costs of the education and living in the city make it quite a challenge to attend.

Overall, the quality of the material that you learn from the program overweights any external difficulties. I find financial aid and affordability to live in the area to be a problem due to it's high cost. However, I will certainly try to make it happen because what they teach at the California Institute of Integral Studies is amazing, enlightening, and life changing!

The Integral Counseling Psychology program at CIIS is a wonderful program to learn how to become a psychotherapist, a marriage and family therapist and also, if you want, a professional clinical counselor. Teachers are caring and nurturing. Classes are designed for you to experience knowledge meanfully, exploring your own life, in a transformative education model, instead of memorizing information. San Francisco is an expensive city to live, but also a very diverse and exciting one and CIIS contributes to it to hosting lectures and workshops from leading experts and concerts from up-and-coming artists.

The East-West Psychology Master's Program at CIIS is a transformative learning program that has changed my life. Synthesizing myriad approaches, I have learned to view my psychology practice from diverse perspectives, integrating spirituality, performance art, environmental awareness, dream work, depth psychology, systems theory, community sustainability, permaculture, and conscious activism. This cutting-edge school is unparalleled in its academic integrity, cultural relevance and community support. I highly recommend any program at CIIS and urge anyone who's passionate about healing the world to apply.

This is one of the few and the best schools for an education in holistic mental health!
