The Master of Social Work program at Cal State Fullerton has been a rigorous yet wonderful program. So far, it has provided me with a diverse experience where I was able to work with multiple populations and with individuals from all walks of life. During my first year, I was able to intern for the county and provide mental health services to individuals with serious and persistent mental illness. It has been my career goal to work as a medical social worker in a hospital setting, and I have been granted that opportunity for my second-year internship here at Cal State Fullerton!

Being seen as a student, not a number. This is the reason I chose the MSHE program at CSUF over other schools. As I met with the directors, faculty and alumni of the program, I recognized that there was a care and emphasis on my development personally and as a professional. I absolutely feel supported and like the staff are excited for me to enter the profession of student affairs.

Cal State Fullerton has been an excellent fit for me personally. The staff has been exceptionally helpful and knowledgeable. My questions and messages are always promptly and thoroughly replied to and the staff seems to actually want me to succeed. The curriculum for my program is rigorous and demanding but it is apparent that my Professors also want me to succeed.

California State University, Fullerton is one of the largest universities in California. However, the amount of clubs and organizations on campus help students to feel more connected to campus. I am currently pursuing my MFA in Screenwriting from the College of Communications. However, I also attended CSUF for undergrad. I studied journalism at the College of Communications. For both my undergrad courses and my current MFA courses, I have instructors who have or still are working in the business I am learning about. Journalism and screenwriting are incredibly competitive. My professors know this, and for this reason, they push us anyway they can and provide as much support as they can. I am in constant contact with my current MFA professors. They are always willing to answer my questions and assist me in any troubles I may have. I feel I am learning the skills necessary to be successful in my career. Furthermore, CSUF is an amazing place to meet people from all over the world. Our international student programs is one of the best. In my time here on campus I have learned so much more about different cultures than I fell I would have at any other university. I have made lifelong friends and colleagues. The University is in a prime Southern California location. The weather is wonderful and the University in a central location. It is twenty minutes from the beach, a stones throw from Disneyland, and all of the exciting entertainment Orange County and Los Angeles has to offer. Although, housing can be expensive, it is possible to find cheaper housing in a surrounding city and commute to work with ease. I have enjoyed my experience attending CSUF. There is something for everyone on this campus. I would recommend it to those who enjoy diversity and working with experienced faculty.

Degree: Nursing
Graduation Year: 2019

Extremely knowledgeable staff and professors. Well organized institution that cares and respects it's students, their sacrifices, and situation. I always felt I had help if I sought it. Professors were there to help you achieve, I never felt as though they were on any team but my own.
