Degree: Psychology
Graduation Year: 2015

With taking online courses at Capella University I have flexibility to take as many courses each quarter that I would like. The professors are very helpful and knowledgeable! The only downfall is when life gets in the way and makes for little time to complete work but the professors are very understanding and work with students to ensure their success!

Degree: Counseling

My experience with Capella University has been and continues to be both challenging academically and rewarding personally. The graduate program provides the necessary instruction and appropriate course projects to ensure learners gain the knowledge required for each course. Assessments adequately highlight the learners' understanding and application of course concepts. Faculty and staff are available, courteous, and knowledgeable. Capella advisers are accessible for technical support, financial aid assistance, and academic course planning.

Degree: Social Work
Graduation Year: 2018

The pros are that they are a supportive community and the classes are high educational value. I don't feel that I wasted my money on my classes like I have with undergraduate programs. Disadvantages are that when you have ran out of financial aid loans that only Graduate plus loans are available. The college did not inform students that it would take three to four years to complete a dissertation. They have the students believing the doctoral degree can be completed in three years. It's rare.

Degree: Business
Graduation Year: 2016

Although the program is online, the faculty demonstrate commitment and concern that ensures my experience is both beneficial and effective. The colloquia offers the opportunity to network and interact with faculty and students. During those times, there is significant effort to provide me with the on-campus experience. The selection of academic course is vast and the advisement team really listens to my needs and preferences.

Degree: School Counseling
Graduation Year: 2016

Capella University is an exclusively online school, and as such, does not require students to live on or near campus. Each course that I've taken has been moderately challenging and really requires you to think and synthesize information before responding to questions, not just memorize facts. The nice part about the schol counseling program is that 2 times throughout the degree program, we get to meet our classmates during a hands on training week. It's a welcome change from only reading each other's posts online. Capella offers clubs and honor societies, as well as a social media network for students and alumni just like any other traditional university.

I think that the overall program is excellent. You need to ensure that you are a dedicated learner in order to succeed. You need to stay focused and when things get tough, don't stress about it. Relax and take your time and you will be able to focus and succeed. I think that one area that they could do better in is their scholarship opportunities.
