Student & Graduate Reviews

I am just starting my graduate work and already find it to be challenging and worthwhile.

The Public Service Leadership (Criminology) PhD program is awesome. All my professors have been good, and I have never ever had to have a TA. The education is same quality as Boston University, except better, because I never had a TA. The technology is good, the library is great, the librarians are very helpful, and dissertation and disability support are great. Course schedules accommodate everyone's work schedule because classes are asynchronous. Best of all, everyone, who has the prerequisite degree/experience is accepted, so politics do not enter into the admissions process or anything else. Some classes are harder than others, and there is a lot of hard work required for all of them. However, what you put into a class determines what you get of a class. Every single class I have had has provided me with practical knowledge that I have applied at my job. The best word to describe Capella is AWESOME!

Capella University has a comprehensive education curriculum and has thus far provided an excellent education opportunity. The program has valuable resources for a learner to be successful in an online program.

It is online and it is hard for you to communicate with your mentors in your dissertation phase when you need them the most.

Enrolling at Capella University is an excellent opportunity for those graduate students who value learning in a non-traditional manner. Capella's online education provides students with an opportunity to incorporate both a professional and educational career within their busy lifestyle. Courses are ten weeks long and encompass a substantial amount of information during this time frame. The transferable qualities of dedication and commitment achieved throughout Capella's program are very relevant to the professional workforce. Although many instructors are active participants in the classroom, much of the education is independent studies. In other words, students engage in independent research and writing development throughout the entire curriculum. Academic supports are offered; however, one must reach out to this department versus them contacting you as a means of checking in. All in all, Capella University is one of the top online accredited graduate programs providing an invaluable education to those students who demonstrate a willingness to learn in a diverse community.

Capella allows the adult learner to continue their education with a flexiable schedule and excellent faculty to assist in your journey!

Degree: Psychology
Graduation Year: 2011

I felt that the pros of the program was convenience. I enjoyed being able to work and achieve my master's degree in psychology. The degree also allowed me the opportunity to obtain a job working in a local community college teaching psychology. The cons were that I did not have the opportunity to complete a thesis. I was not able to implement my own independent research. Other than that the program provided me the opportunity to teach psychology which was a big plus. Overall, I was happy with my education.

Degree: Counseling
Graduation Year: 2015

I have enjoyed the online classes thus far, the cost of schooling is overall ridiculous.

Degree: Social Work
Graduation Year: 2015

Capella University offers an abundance of resources that help the students to have a positive experience with taking online classes. The academic counselors at Capella contact each student periodically to make sure that their graduate experience is a great one. Capella has an excellent orientation seminar that helps new online learners to have a positive online experience. Last but not least Capella is a nationally accredited institution. Capella does not offer face to face classes where student who may learn differently may have a chance to excel in class. Capella has some financial aid but not enough to cover each and every major.

I feel the pros of the graduate program that I'm enrolled in is that the courses are directly related to the major and they have very valuable learning.
