I am just beginning at Capella University. I can only hope that my attendance and success at the university is in comparison to their application process, which was wonderfully simple.

The pro to this program was that when I enrolled with an enrollment advisor I was told that I could choose my speacialization later because I ws not sure which one I wanted to do, I wanted to reseach each available one. I had no problem with my coursework, graduated with Distinctions and a 3.871 GPA, all A's and one B. CON-I decide to schoose my specialization in addiction counseling, since I already had a certificate I took at a community college at the same time I was going to this college, and worked, and a single mother. They denied me, and when I asked why they said they did not have to give me a specific reason. This bothered me, I tried to get answers from student advisor and program director, ut no one could explain why thats how they did it but that is how it is done. Next I find out my prgram no longer exists, but those who had started will get credit for their MS. I tried again to sign up for a specialization in Mental Health Counseling, and again was denied. Same procedure. I was very upset, especially when I graduated in May 2012 and got a position as a psychotherapist only to learn I could not get my temporary license to practice TLPC because I needed CACREP, what Capella sold me one from the beginning but never folloed through. I was very angry now. I sought out other universitites and found Walden who had now problem accepting me and enrolling me in a CACREP program with a specialization in Trauma and Crisis. I started their in October 2013, that is how quick I had to get on the ball before student loans needed attention. Now thanks to all that time in one MS at Capellla and using my student loan money there, I cannot get a Doctrine's and I am barely going to be able to have enough to finish this program. Thanks Capella. Feel free to contact me if you believe something was done wrong here.

Amazing online education. The school is currently still harnessing more technology to create a classroom feel using the internet. As it finds its way, I have no doubt it will take over traditional classroom education.

Capella University's program of learning is very challenging and forces commitment and dedication for successful completion due to the independent study design. Very supportive and available faculty, academic advising and financial aid staff. A great learning experience.

Degree: Educational Leadership
Graduation Year: 2016

I am excited to attending Capella University to earn my doctorate degree. The pros pertaining to this program is that this format fits my busy schedule. Without a program such as this one, I would not be able to further my education. A con would be is that distance learning via online is still fairly new and some employers do not view degrees earned in this format as valuable as those earned through traditional means.

One must be very self motivated and self-disciplined to complete work. These are very positive for a work experience. There is tons of help from the college and students when someone has difficulty.

Some of the categories do not apply because it is online, but what I can say is that you have to be very disciplined in getting your work done and in on time.

If not for Capella university online, and schools like I would not be able to continue my education. In the current economy I, and many Graduate students like me are not able to work a full-time job that provides enough income as well as complete a graduate degree. Capella University has afforded me this opportunity and for it I am greatful!

I loved that my program was available online as it worked so well with my work schedule. I learned more online than I did sitting in a classroom. I was forced to actually do my readings and assignments instead of just skating by.
