Capella is very committed to helping learners pursue his or her goals. The option of having staff 24 hours a day is a great asset. Yet, one of the minuses is the website is very cumbersome to navigate.

The required courses are relevant to my desired major. More opportunities to explore different career options in a specific field would be helpful.

I am truly enjoying my experience as a grad student at Capella. They challenge you academically and give you the tools you need to be a successful professional in your field of study. The tech support is also very good. They help you every step of the way when there are difficulties with the school operating system and your personal computer. I have yet to encounter a tech problem they haven't been able to help me with (there haven't been many). I would recommend their counseling program to anyone who is interested. If there was a con I would say the lack of personal interaction. We do get the opportunity at the colloquias in cities around the country. But it would be nice to maybe do a video chat once a week. But with people's busy schedule, this may be difficult. After all, that is one of the main reasons we are taking courses online in the first place.

I am just starting my graduate work and already find it to be challenging and worthwhile.

The Public Service Leadership (Criminology) PhD program is awesome. All my professors have been good, and I have never ever had to have a TA. The education is same quality as Boston University, except better, because I never had a TA. The technology is good, the library is great, the librarians are very helpful, and dissertation and disability support are great. Course schedules accommodate everyone's work schedule because classes are asynchronous. Best of all, everyone, who has the prerequisite degree/experience is accepted, so politics do not enter into the admissions process or anything else. Some classes are harder than others, and there is a lot of hard work required for all of them. However, what you put into a class determines what you get of a class. Every single class I have had has provided me with practical knowledge that I have applied at my job. The best word to describe Capella is AWESOME!

It is online and it is hard for you to communicate with your mentors in your dissertation phase when you need them the most.

Enrolling at Capella University is an excellent opportunity for those graduate students who value learning in a non-traditional manner. Capella's online education provides students with an opportunity to incorporate both a professional and educational career within their busy lifestyle. Courses are ten weeks long and encompass a substantial amount of information during this time frame. The transferable qualities of dedication and commitment achieved throughout Capella's program are very relevant to the professional workforce. Although many instructors are active participants in the classroom, much of the education is independent studies. In other words, students engage in independent research and writing development throughout the entire curriculum. Academic supports are offered; however, one must reach out to this department versus them contacting you as a means of checking in. All in all, Capella University is one of the top online accredited graduate programs providing an invaluable education to those students who demonstrate a willingness to learn in a diverse community.

I felt that the pros of the program was convenience. I enjoyed being able to work and achieve my master's degree in psychology. The degree also allowed me the opportunity to obtain a job working in a local community college teaching psychology. The cons were that I did not have the opportunity to complete a thesis. I was not able to implement my own independent research. Other than that the program provided me the opportunity to teach psychology which was a big plus. Overall, I was happy with my education.
