My classes are all online so some responses are not applicable. Capella is slowly becoming a respected university. I feel the verdict is still out on it as an institution. I am impressed with the technology and am challenged by the masters program. It would be nice to see more funds go back to learners via scholarships.

The pros of my program include the program being a valuable career field, quality and knowledgeable instructors and ease of technology use. One major con of my graduate program is the limited financial aid options.

The pros are the real world experience through scenarios. the cons are the amount of material to read and some of it isn't applicable to the assignment. Also using the adobe connect application to do the group meetings was complicated.

Capella has been very good so far. I am in the MSIT program concentrating on Information Assurance and Security. Professors and advisors have been great.

Pros Staff other than instructors - are easily accessible and wants to be helpful Technical support - helpful and displays interest in helping students Resources - technical, library, and otherwise are current, helpful, pertinent, etc. Cons Tuition - very costly Scholarship from school - very limited Financial assistance - other than government funds, cash, student is left in the dark and on their own to come up with needed funds to complete their education, if need more funds; otherwise they are out of luck--unable to complete education program Residence requirement - not diversified when it comes to different locations, specifically lacks colloquims in northern state where many students reside; personal funding is required for room & board and transportation expenses--many students do not have the funds and this makes it difficult for them to complete degree or unable to finish their degree at all. Some instructors will intentionally make it difficult for students to pass the course if they have personal matters to attend to or problem; even though they can help (i.e., granting incomplete grade, credit for late assignments, etc.). Some instructors discourage students in taking course by suggesting that they take courses when their problems are done; even though problems will not bet better in the near future because care of love ones or self is deteriorating. In other words, some instructors destroys hope for some students t get an education. School fails to provide student with total cost or average cost for students to prusue or complete a degree program.

Capella is an excellent choice for an IT Master Program. Online learning is not for everyone though, and the support of a traditional school is much stronger than what you get online. For a student that has excellent study and research skills, along with a strong determination, this is a good choice.

I believe a strong con to the program is that it is online and does not require any time of hands-on or volunteering efforts to include into the class.
