"The Heinz College overall is a great school to attend. The breadth of materials covered is far more diverse and quantitatively focused than at other similar policy graduate programs. Highly recommended."

"The best part about my graduate program is that there is a heavy emphasis on networking within our career field. CMU sets you up for success every step of the way by sending you to film festivals and the second year the courses are in LA while you are interning."

"My program is Engineering and Technology Innovation Management. I absolutely love it because it combines the exact aspects of what I wanted to study for my graduate degree. I'm being exposed to management tactics and strategy, business skills, project management, product development, and entrepreneurship in addition to a technical focus. The only downside to the program is that it is not very well known yet, and some companies need to have it explained in great detail before they understand the value in having an employee with this skill set."

"Tepper is uniquely positioned to prepare managers for the information age. Data is king nowadays, and Tepper helps MBA graduates build tangible, useful skills that will help them excel in the corporate world. Furthermore, Tepper is not a fluffy program. When you enroll here, you are seeking a challenge that will help set the stage for the rest of your professional career. Pittsburgh can be isolating, so it would help if there was better outreach to larger markets. We have satellite campuses in New York and Silicon Valley, but the bulk of the students in Pittsburgh rarely get to leverage anything gained by having those locations. I wanted to work in Chicago, but our penetration here is extremely low. To illustrate the point, only about 7 of us actually ended up in Chicago and 5 of those were by happenstance because their consulting firms happened to assign them here. This is despite the dozens and dozens of my classmates who wanted to work here, but couldn't get the interviews/connections. I only ended up here because I decided to return to my previous employer, who just happened to be headquartered here in Chicago. Similar stories exist for other highly desirable locations like Los Angeles and San Francisco. I found the "full service" approach that Tepper offers particularly enticing. The mini semester system offers incredible curriculum customization and lack of cohorts allows you to truly get to know and work with as many different classmates as possible. The quantitative rigor of the program, along with the technical background of a large portion of the student body prepares us both analytically and socially for the business world."

"I worked a lot in grad school. I was surrounded by the smartest people I've known. Those're immense virtues that i don't find in my life otherwise. It was like therapy, but I paid a lot of money for it and wind up knowing more about Descartes than the Pentium chip. Get two majors -- one to make you a broad, full person and one to pay the bills."

"Carnegie Mellon has excellent teaching and administrative staff. The professors really understand what they are teaching and are able to make students understand the concepts. The professors have in depth knowledge of the job market they are preparing the students for. The professors are happy to answer questions and enjoy interacting with students. The curriculum is designed and constantly updated to give the students the latest relevant stuff. Carnegie Mellon is no place for lazy students. All students are brilliant and they study really hard. The workload is enough to keep you thinking outside the box. Diversity in students is evident which makes it interesting and fun to hear and learn from different cultures. You are bound to hear something from a different culture that would make you say "Really?!!" The sense of purpose and determination of students in itself is a motivation. Excellent career service the moment you step in the school which continues even after graduating. The workload is such that one has to make time to have fun."

"The biggest strengths we have is our focus on data and quant and our alumni support. The biggest opportunity to improve is that our numbers are less in the major IB and Consulting firms -- leading to a tough recruiting season."

"Civil Engineering program, especially AIS, at Carnegie Mellon has very high academic expectations and of course it is a top 10 program. Cost of education is high, and scholarships are few. Awesome use of technology, and Profs are good too. Best part is, you can take courses from the renowned computer science department. To sum it up, CMU Engineering is awesome and is a great choice."

"A very challenging program in the traditional physics sense, but infused with the creative spirit characteristic to CMU. The research options are very broad and many groups are on the cutting edge of unique fields. Pittsburgh is a great city to live in and the proximity of CMU to other universities creates a great educational atmosphere. The other physics graduate students are pretty awesome too, so it's easy to find a pick-me-up when the stress starts to get you down. Overall, I'm very happy here!"
