"For a Christian college, they sure are money hungry. The program was disclosed for working nurses, that is not the case. They lied to me through the entire enrollment process. They are the only program on a Master's level that allows Cs, but their grading scale is not adequate. C is a grade considered 84-78. If you find out they lied, well it's too late, because they will take the entire amount of the money and run. If you like constraints, more nurses eating their young, and staff that only cares about the money aspect and not your success this is the correct place for you. I have never been more disappointed in myself on believing a group of people about a program."

"The truth is, since Carson Newman has teamed up with local police, we have found the majority of students being sent behind bars for petty offenses. They need to focus on the lowlifes in the community and leave us alone.! At first, we heard the point of this collaboration was to help protect our campus and keep it stable. Instead, I have seen over 10 of my friends have to go to jail over BASIC offenses when this should not be happening to students. There should be a respect for a student who pays over 30,000 to go here instead of just throwing us in jail. The campus is a lot more harsh and less delightful than it used to be when I started in 2013. You literally cannot go anywhere on campus without staring at your speed in hopes you aren't "going to slow" or "going to fast" because you WILL be pulled over. The security department is simply getting out of hand and instead of making us feel safe we actually feel like we have to walk on our tippy toes. No one is perfect and students will make mistakes! We are now dealing with a campus where most students will leave with a misdemeanor criminal record. No one has to believe me, the proof is in the courtroom. I shadowed the courtroom for my service learning and over 50% of the population was CN students and the offenses were "slap on the wrist" types. The point of a college is to get a degree and we can't pursue or future jobs with criminal records. The police being on and around campus is a TERRIBLE idea. I personally know many students who will not be returning because of it."

"Excellence in communication contributes to success in all aspects of personal, professional and civic life. My degree program was rooted in the mastery of speaking and writing skills. My programs had a substantial balance in theory and research with practical training in professional skills. The department faculty is committed to a liberal education in written, oral and visual communication, as well as equipping students for success in the fields of advertising, public relations, journalism, media arts, film and theater. Additionally, the department recognizes its responsibility to challenge its students to adopt ethical stances in a rapidly changing communication environment and to become critical consumers of media products."

"I loved the small class size and one-on-one attention I could get from my professors. I feel like the intership portion of my coursework was challenging because I struggled to get enough clients to complete it. It would have been a much better experience if the college had partnerships with businesses to allow us to easier complete our internships."

"Carson-Newman is a great place to grow in all aspects of life: academically, socially, spiritually, emotionally. The liberal arts approach prepares you for a career, not just a job. The community is excellent and fosters lifelong friendships."

"Carson Newman University is a marvelous school to choose in pursuing music education as a degree. You get hands-on experience as well as a great teacher/student relationship. There is a home like atmosphere at Carson Newman which makes it even easier to get involved. There are many organizations and clubs at Carson Newman. Currently, I am in Delta Omicron Music Fraternity, Student Ambassador Association, Alpha Lambda Delta Honors Society, Percussion Club, NAfME, and ETSBOA. Like I said, Carson Newman offers a wide variety of great experiences with each degree."

"Cons: It is a new program with no graduates yet, so it is hard to tell how this degree will be accepted by PhD programs. Pros: It is an affordable degree, and the department supplements financial aid with teaching experience."
