Degree: Human Services

I attended Columbia College & studied Human Services because I wanted to be in the Social Service field. I'm currently working for a non for profit housing organization & what I've learned has helped me tremendously. I would recommend this degree.

Great school with teachers that genuinely care! They are all about the students and are continually putting back into the programs. The voices of the students are heard, for example student government got free printing and laundry in the dorms. The classes really helped prepare me for work and the small class sizes hold you accountable for your learning. All of those things combined and not to mention GREAT scholarship opportunities make me proud to be a CC alumni.

Degree: Special Education

I am currently a graduate student at Columbia College working towards getting my Masters in Special Education. I have already had two friends go through the graduate program and both have had nothing but positive words. However, I do not start my graduate program until fall of 2017. Although I do not start till then, I have recently graduated from Columbia College with my undergrad degree of BA in English Literature and I also began working towards my Education degree during my time as an undergrad.... Degree: Cultural Studies

Due to my line of work having rotating shifts and off days, I was able to complete my degree completely online through Columbia College. I liked the eight week classes, although they were fast paced. Online classes are not for everyone, as one needs a lot of self discipline. Just like the in seat courses some professors were better than other, I had difficulty with only two professors. I received my degree in American Studies, and minored in Human Resource Management and Management, earning a certificate... Read More

My experience at Columbia College was well-rounded and comprehensive. It was all I expected and wanted from an undergraduate experience, and more! The opportunities for intellectual development are facilitated by the twenty different libraries within a small radius that are open daily for students, all of which have a variety of electronic and paper resources for research and study. I had the great privilege to work with world-class faculty and a diverse group of motivated students. The core curriculum... Read More

Degree: Business Administration

I transferred to Columbia College after completing a few courses at my community college because Columbia College offered my degree 100% online while my community college didn't. Professors for online courses are all adjunct, and as such they have other jobs- 90% of the time this is obvious. While I didn't have to wait more than a week and the professors answers to students were often generic on message boards. I hated most of my professors and I do not feel the education I received prepared me for... Read More

Columbia college allowed me as a military to continue my education online even while I was deployed. I was able to finish my degree while continuing my work as a NCO and my professors knowing full well of deployment and training exercises were eager to help me when I had to miss class. They allowed me to bring in my college work and graded me fairly. I would strongly recommend this college to any Soldier or civilian. Top grade teaching and it definitely help me with my career in the military.

This school used to be great, but over the last few years they have become one of the worst. I used to think the University of Phoenix was bad, but Columbia College has proven to be an even bigger disappointment. They're very poorly organized and many of the instructors have no business teaching. If you want a quality education and a competent school, stay away from Columbia College. They only want your money, they couldn't care less about their students.

Degree: MBA

I picked this college when online MBA degrees were hard to find from non-profit colleges. Having an MBA from Columbia College double my earnings right after graduation. This is a great school, with great faculty and staff. But, like most online learning, it's really up to you, to determine how much you get out of your experience.

Degree: Human Services

Some of these online classes are a sham, especially Working with Families by J.C. The system for online discussions rigged and will automatically deduct points from the rest of the class if everyone doesn't post or post late and you don't respond. Its a scam and when you ask the instructor, he will give you the runaround by "double talking." Then when you go to the supervisors they just deny and cover up. If you try to get records, they will not provide them to you. Bad accountability and very corrupt.... Read More

I appreciate my B.A. Degree I received from Columbia College. Yes, the courses were accelerated, and these types of classes are not meant for everyone. My courses were online, and in seat and I was able to grasps the concepts. I have nothing bad to say about Columbia College, and I would recommend the school to anyone. I was able to utilize my BA degree from Columbia to transfer to a top 10 university in my field of study to earn a Masters Degree.

The 8-week courses move so quickly you do not retain the information to get faster you must take two classes which is very difficult if you are a working adult when both classes you have research papers that must be 8 to 10 pages long You cannot have a family because you will be studying 7 days a week with these classes being at a 8 week course comma I would like to see it set at a three-month class and set instead of 8 weeks

Degree: Education

The Communications and Organizational Leadership "department" is filled with a nasty attitude that needs to be dealt with. Several students in my cohort have been forced to go to other institutions to take classes because these "leaders" cannot give a straight answer to a simple question. Also, we had to FIGHT just to be advised which is sad. When we were advised, a complete stranger or "bodyguard " was there and recorded everything on his phone which was PATHETIC. The class sizes are very reasonable. As a person looking to obtain certification in special education with a focus on the secondary level, I feel that the teachers are very helpful in addressing my needs. Most classes for special education are focused on primary grades, but if you inform the instructor of your desire to teach something other than primary they differentiate their instruction to reach all students, not just the majority. Great school for non-traditional students. I was able to start the program with onsite classes and when my husband's career transferred us out of state I switched to online and finished without interruption. The terms are 8 weeks which means right when you start to get bored it's over. Totally affordable, let me say that again TOTALLY AFFORDABLE. I believe it was something like $220 per credit hour for online courses. Helped me get a leg up in the job market!
