I absolutely love the Reading Specialist program at Fitchburg State. The professors have all been extremely knowledgeable and helpful which is wonderful. It has made succeeding much easier. It has always been easy to register for classes and the staff in all of the offices have been understanding and helpful. As a graduate student I have not taken advantage of all the new upgrades the college has to offer which made it hard to rate. However, I have heard many good things about new technology and building amenities. The things that may need improvement are safety on campus, and continuing to upgrade facilities. Although man wonderful things are happening around campus, there is always room for upgrades.

The graduate program at Fitchburg State University is prestigious in that they truly give you all the tools you need to succeed. The graduate program professors truly care about your progress each course and assist you in whatever you need to ensure you earn the best GPA you can. The city of Fitchburg is not one that is exactly considered safe, however the campus itself is monitored regularly by campus police.

Degree: School Counseling
Graduation Year: 2017

I completed my undergraduate degree at Fitchburg State, so I am very familiar with the department that runs my current graduate program. I mainly chose Fitchburg State because it was the most affordable of the three schools I was accepted to, and I don't regret my decision at all. I am very happy with the faculty as well as with what I'm learning in my coursework. If I had any cons about my program so far, it would be that my advisor has been very hard to get in touch with. Otherwise, I highly recommend the School Counseling program at Fitchburg State University!

I would highly recommend the counseling program at Fitchburg State University. It is very well coordinated, the professors are very supportive, as well as, challenging. and The program comprehensively prepares the student for licensure and entrance into the profession. The only suggestion I would propose is more experiential work in specified therapeutic techniques prior to internship.

Fitchburg State is an accredited university for students to work toward their license as a Mental Health Counselor. The program offers the required courses, as well as, some electives to prepare the student to complete the licensing exam. The program also has been developed to prepare the student to enter the field as a professional with a Masters Degree. The beginning coursework provides a theoretical foundation in preparation for the experiential courses that complete the program for internship readiness. The advisers to the program insure that all requirements are consistently meet and the department provides ongoing student evaluations. The courses are taught by professors that have specific experience related to the subject matter. The professors are very supportive and willing to work with the student when assistance is needed. The only con I have experienced is that there was a required summer course that would have been best offered during the regular semester, due to the large amount of work for this particular course.
