  • Degree: Social Work
"I graduated from Florida Atlantic University in December 2016 with a Bachelor of Social Work. I started FAU's Advanced Standing MSW program in May. I believe FAU's BSW program prepared me for generalist practice in the world of Social Work. Since I would like to work as a substance abuse counselor, I am now pursuing a Master's degree. From my experience over the last year and a half, FAU has an excellent program. The faculty is fantastic and genuinely cares. They are very willing to help and want students to succeed. There will always be a few who don't want to do the work and complain about everything, but if you work hard and genuinely want to learn, you will have a great experience. I believe the curriculum will give students what they need for generalist practice. I would highly recommend FAU to anyone who wants to become a social worker. One of my former professors is now leading the school of social work. She has a tremendous amount of energy and is working hard to push the program to the next level, not to mention the school was recently named the Phyllis and Harvey Sandler School of Social Work after receiving a generous donation of $7 million dollars. Besides having excellent professors, my advisors were also very helpful in making sure I was taking the right courses to graduate on time. The field placement my last semester was challenging and gave me valuable hands-on case management experience. Every effort is made to find students field placements that are a good fit. Since FAU is a state school, tuition is reasonable and won't set you back like a private school, plus I believe you will get a better education at FAU."

"Absolutely the most unbelievably horrible admission's experience ever. Computer registration process is also bad. Undergraduate professors are all different quality and some could care less. The FAU administration should be replaced. Almost no merit aid so most middle class family pay full cost! You can get a better education at a lower price at almost any other college.."

"I completed both my BSW and my MSW from Florida Atlantic University. All of the staff have been in the field of social work or are currently in the field. The professors are highly knowledgeable and have worked with a variety of populations. I would highly recommend this program to any student that wants to enter into the profession of social work."

  • Degree: Psychology
"I graduated in 2013 from Florida Atlantic University with a BAC in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. I completed one year of a masters program at FaU in clinical mental health counseling where I worked as a graduate assistant at the office for students with disabilities. I feel this experience helped prepare me for the workforce, opened my eyes to cultural sensitivity in the work place, was a very rewarding opportunity, and helped me network with professionals in the field."

"FAU wasnt my first choice- but I am proud to say that today, without a doubt it is my only choice. Finding a perfect fit in college is difficult and often nerve-racking. Yet, FAU has done a remarkable job with allowing me to not only cultivate my vision, passion, and love for academics, but also has given me the opportunity to find people who see and believe in my potential beyond just an academic realm. My name is Francine Coker and I am currently working on my Masters of Business Administration with a focus in Hospitality Management. My professors here at FAU have grown my heart to reach out and impact the way education is used to not only grow a student academically, but personally too. I believe that a student needs a school that will show value to them beyond the test scores they can produce. FAU is the university that offer students with a Why or an invincible purpose that challenges and calls forth their potential. I have found every reason to plant my roots and grow at Florida Atlantic University. They say that every child deserves their champion; a person, a challenge, or a calling that allows them to step out of their comfort zones and into the world of possibility."

"Florida Atlantic University is a great place to earn your degree. The faculty is knowledgeable, accessible and always willing to help you succeed. FAU also provides many resources such as the career center, tutoring and a writing center that are free of charge. I am from a different part of the Florida and what first attracted me to FAU was the wide array of undergraduate programs that are offered, from biology to studio art to nursing. Also, the location cannot be better-out of the hustle and bustle of South Florida but within an hour of Miami, West Palm Beach and Ft. Lauderdale. Choose FAU! Go Owls!"

"FAU offers a great variety of classes from online to on campus for your undergraduate career. It also offers many clubs to join in order to network with fellow students and possible future employers. I had the opportunity to become Treasurer for MISA for a semester and that allowed me to even add CEO's to my LinkedIn connections. Of course, FAU provides the opportunity, but it's up to you to follow it. FAU also offers great "Accelerated Program" for those who wish to get both their Bachelors/Masters degree withing 5-years (finish your bachelor in 4 years, go straight into your masters and finish in 1 year) which is an opportunity I decided to pursue. I am due to graduate with my masters in Information Technology this Fall 2017 after finishing my bachelors in Fall 2016. Not many opportunities like this arise, and I am so happy FAU offered it."

"The Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies program at Florida Atlantic University is small but mighty. The core faculty are great and super knowledgeable in their fields so they have the expertise and connections needed to get far in this field. The staff are supportive and generally understanding when it comes to the struggle of being a full-time student and working part-time. I have learned so many things from this program and have benefited from the smaller class sizes. Assistant-ships are available for those who apply early and get to know the professors, as well which really helped me fund my degree! If you are looking for a master's degree in Women's Studies FAU is certainly a great place to obtain one."

"The Florida Atlantic University Civil Engineering Department is a great place to earn your degree. I am graduating in the fall and must say that it was a great program. The professors teach you the fundamental concepts needed to succeed. While some of the course seem difficult, the professors want to make sure that you learn the subject to prepare you to take the FE. I would recommend anyone to go there."

"Florida Atlantic University was a wonderful university to attend. I am about to start my Master's in Biomedical Science at FAU and I am so excited to be an Owl again! The professors, advisors, and students at FAU made such a difference on my life and I couldn't imagine having attended another university. The Neuroscience and Behavior program was rigorous, challenging, and insightful. I have heard such amazing things about the College of Medicine and I am so lucky to have been accepted into the program to earn my MS degree."

  • Degree: Public Administration
"My career started at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in August 2012 in the Master of Public Administration (MPA) program. I enrolled in the program to broaden my public service perspective and improve career prospects. The journey was captivating, demanding and thought provoking. At the time I enrolled, I did not realize the extent to which my ideologies and outlook would change, and the extensive transformation that would shape my life and stance. The dynamics of public administration were new and interesting to me, and I devoted myself to learning and working hard. I was successful academically and graduated in August 2015 with an overall GPA of 3.882. The MPA program equipped me with an extensive body of knowledge in public administration that left me yearning for more of its academic appeal, so the next logical step for me was the Ph.D. program. I know the curriculum will be challenging and will allow me to further enhance my abilities, but the foundation created by the MPA program makes me feel exceptionally competent. It is my goal to promote a positive, sustainable, creative, benevolent, and progressive government."

"I am very pleased with the instructors that teach the Professional MBA program. Most of the professors have worked in the industry that they teach, which adds value to classroom. The program is geared toward working professionals with very active schedules. The faculty and staff are very supportive of schedule conflicts. I personally do not find the course work to be very difficult. The program is also a good chance to network, however do to the diversity in student background it can be difficult to capitalize on this network."

"I completed a Masters in Higher Education Leadership at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in 2015. I am a non-traditional, female student of color, who chose to make a career change in her early forties, moving from business/banking to education. As per research and reporting categories, my ethnicity is Asian (India), but from the Caribbean. I have had a delightful experience as a graduate student at Florida Atlantic University, with the development of professional relationships as well as friendships with faculty and peers. Adding to this experience is the wealth of resources available to help students succeed. The curriculum is rigorous, incorporating an experiential component, such as an internship, conference travel or pursuance of an independent research project. Graduates produced are well rounded and fit into higher education domains easily. One third of my coursework was done online and the other two thirds were taken face to face (this matched my preferences at the time). Also worth mentioning is the diversity of the student population which allowed me to fit in comfortably. This enhanced my learning experience tremendously. South Florida is a melting pot of cultures and because of this rich diversity; I believe that students can compete on a global scale. They become accustomed to socializing in diverse environments, and tolerance becomes second nature to them. I was also influenced by the liveliness of the community, the expos of arts and culture, cuisines and a warm and friendly student population. I am now pursuing the doctoral degree in educational leadership, with a concentration in Higher education leaders; offered by the Department of Educational Leadership and Research Methodology in the College of Education. In fact, applicants to the doctoral degree here can get a Masters in Passant (a Masters while pursuing their Ph.D.). I give the highest recommendation to both the Masters and Ph.D. in higher educational leadership at Florida Atlantic University."
