The Department does not have the faculty members or procedures required for a graduate student whose Major Professor unexpectedly leaves the University to complete his/her degree. They also do not make the student aware of correspondences provided by the University Graduate School, thus, resulting in additional time, effort, and financial resources required in addition to completing their degree without faculty support.

Over all FIU is a great school with an ever expanding campus, and programs that are striving to go beyond the needs of today's society. You can get almost nothing done without talking to someone face to face, and it is almost a pre-requisite that a student speak or at least understand Spanish to get anything done.

My graduate program at Florida International University is fantastic. Its highly competitive within the design studio and the professors are or have been part of the surrounding firms in Miami so it is easy to make connections before you graduate. The classes are rigorous and you work at a fast pace. The only cons of the program is the rigidity of it and doesn't allow you to take any courses outside of architecture in your beginning freshman years and little time for on campus activities.

If you are looking to enter the field of International Relations (IR)/Foreign Policy/Diplomacy/International Business, there is no better university than Florida International University (FIU). The quality of the instruction cannot be beat; the professors are culled from the best working professionals in the field - Ronald Cox (phenomenal instructor and author), José Cruz (in-depth real-life experience working in Latin America), and Marcie Washington (conflict and refugee expert) are just a few of... FIU Law is a great law school. Although it is a rather new institution compared to most law schools, the faculty, career office and the overall administration has made it a great environment for learning. My favorite part about FIU Law that sold me when I was considering what law school to attend was the small class size. With only about 130 students in my class, the intimate environment has made it easier to become personal with the professors, other faculty and even the Dean, who is extremely approachable... The graduate level international relations program at FIU is home to some of the most well known thinkers in IR theory and security studies. The professors are always available to help students and the department is always willing to work with students in need of financial assistance. The only con towards the university is the general cost of living in Miami which is much higher than most other cities.

My graduate program has helped build a strong foundation and understanding of the legal system and as I continue to pursue this program, I realize how lucky I am to be a part of it. My professors are very knowledgeable and they are ready to share this wealth with their students. As a new law school, FIU still has to establish a great reputation in the legal community. However, with the hard work that the students and staff are putting in, FIU will be able to earn an amazing reputation.

specific program is Hospitality Management, not specified in your choices here. The school is good, though some of the classes are too easy and seem just a version of the same undergraduate courses. But others are quite good, and the professors and dean are all very supportive and accessible. And career services has imporved since I began the program.

Florida International University (FIU) charged graduate students amounts much greater than the standard amount approved by the Board of Governors (which oversees public universities in Florida). The amount of overcharging ranged from $14,000 to $40,000 per student per program (depending on the program) in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. In the process of inquiring, I found out that these charges, (going back to 2005; my inquiries were in 2012-13) were never submitted for approval to FIU's... Read More
