FIU has an extensive amount of resources for their undergraduate students. When it comes to the graduates, their resources (dependent on the department) is limited. Parking/traffic is pretty tough if you don't leave or arrive at school at the right time.

The program itself was very competitive and educational. The school in general is very large and growing at a rapid pace. I think most of their undergraduate degrees are not too great but they perform very well in graduate studies.

The teachers were very helpful if you asked for it. There was only 1 Professor that everyone had a serious problem with out of all the other Professors I had so I guess that is a plus. Other than that, the school is great. I enjoyed my time there. I also had a pretty decent cohort for the most part. Of course you will always have those students who are lazy and don't want to put in the work when you have to work in groups, which to me was surprising on that level of Education. If the group couldn't resolve the issues themselves, the Professors were very understanding, firm and very good at handling the issues at hand. I had a good experience.

I have been teaching in the public school setting for 24 years. I have continued to be a life long learner throughout my career as a teacher. In addition to my Master's Degree, I also continued to work for and receive additional certifications to include: ESOL, Gifted, Psychology, Varying Exceptionalities, Elementary Education, and most recently, Social Studies 6-12. I have taught in both Miami-Dave County and Volusia County in several schools, which included various teaching assignments. I have worked and been nominated Teacher of the Year on several occassions and was named Volusia County Middle School Social Studies Teacher of the Year, 2017. I am dedicated and hard working. I have recently made the decision to enter the Educational Leadership Specialist Program to further my career and knowledge. I frequently supervise students from local colleges. It is my goal to assist other teachers in becoming the best they can be in order to positively contribute and affect the lives of their students and continue to instill a love for learning to create successful, active, educated citizens for the future of our country. I am a member of the Florida Council for the Social Studies, and the National Council for the Social Studies.

Florida International University is a great school. It is very diverse and students who attend feel they can get a good sense of direction. Almost all colleagues I met were very friendly and were willing to help if I needed it. You will not be disappointed if you attend FIU and will be satisfied with your degree once you graduate
