"Overall I enjoyed attending George Mason. Some classes were significantly harder than others, depending on the teacher you received. Overall I thought I received a good education that helped me to perform well in my career."

"At the time I went the faculty for biochemistry was great, but many of the chemistry faculty were horrible teachers. I have no idea if this has changed since I went. Overall not a bad place to go for a BS or MS, but would look elsewhere for a PhD"

"The classes in the Master's of Public Policy program are quite rigorous, and most of the professors were knowledgeable and provided interesting class discussion and coursework. The downfall of George Mason is the advising department and the campuses. The parking at both the Arlington and Fairfax campuses is a nightmare."

"One of the best things that happened to me in my life was taking a degree at my school . I have lots of opportunity for learning, experiencing the technologies throughout the academics. It is also a great place of cultural diversity and you'll have the opportunity to meet hundreds of people from all over the world. Professor's are very supportive and informative to the students every time. Instead of judging you by the looks they only consider our skills and knowledge and dedication towards the subject. Overall I would recommend anyone to take a course or two at my school and try for yourself."

"Don't focus too much on the individual topic, but focus on the ability to learn things. You are likely having to learn the skills needed on your next job."

"I had a great graduate experience at George Mason. The classes were small, and the professors all had great connections to the history field. I landed an internship at the Office of Presidential Libraries, which was an amazing experience."

"George Mason University provides a great education in a uniquely diverse environment, which allows for many networking opportunities. GMU has extremely experienced instructors and a wide range of courses. The overall learning experience at GMU is excellent, and I would recommend the college to all!"

"George Mason is fairly large school in Virginia known for it's diversity and innovation. There is no way to feel left out because they have hundreds of organizations that meet your interests. The school is also 30 minutes away from Washington D.C. so there is plenty of career opportunities in or around the capital. GMU provides a large category of classes, online, on campus, and a hybrid, and you even have the freedom to create and craft your own major! I think the school is still up and coming in new buildings and programs so please go to the school that surrounds itself with an innovative student body, administration, and faculty."

"George Mason University is an excellent school. The music program prepared me well for a career in my field. Through my classes, connections, and experiences at George Mason, I was able to expand my musical 'toolbelt' beyond classical performance and develop the additional teaching, 'gigging', and entrepreneurial skills needed to make a living as a musician."

"So I picked GMU because I have always been a fan of State schools. I don't need to 'big name', and would rather my resume, work and reputation be what people remember about me. Within the DC area, I was hoping there would be more adjunct professors who had lived the topics they were teaching, and to a point that had been true. Some though, and a good bulk were not, and it was clear that these classes wouldn't really hit the real life job skills I was looking for. I wanted to be able to learn on a Tuesday and apply these skills on a Wednesday. Moreover, these professors didn't really understand how working a full day at a real job (Gov, Private Sector, Non-Profit, etc) then rolling into class until 10pm impacts your life. Two professors even told me they would grade papers and assignments 'when I have time'. Had I told my boss that at work, I'd be looking for a new job. But overall the experience was great. The Global Residency was so insightful and was an amazing time with a great group of people. If you're looking for a program that isn't at some big named school, pick GMU."

"The College of Humanities and Social Sciences at George Mason University is one of the most educational and fruitful programs in the Washington, DC area. The staff members in the Department of History and Art History are beyond helpful, extremely insightful, and very encouraging. As an alumnus reflecting on my undergraduate career at GMU, I am proud to have had the opportunity to learn and develop my career at such an opportunistic school. The department's available career assistance along with the university's prime location to the capitol are only a few reasons as to why GMU is a good choice for higher education."

"I was surprised with how much I enjoyed GMU. I had never seen myself going there until after I graduated high school and found out Mason was the only school in the state with the true program I wanted - Arts Management. I was able to make this my minor with my Fine Arts degree, and I enjoyed it so much I was able to do multiple internships and get into Graduate school for it! I now have been accepted into an amazing graduate program in NonProfit Management concentrating in the Arts because of all the connections and experience I was able to get at Mason. Had I just had the Fine Arts degree I would have been nervous graduating and finding a career, but the opportunity to find a minor I was passionate about allowing me to take my love of art further was an awesome experience, and I can't wait to take the next step towards my future goals."

"George Mason University provides a lot of opportunities for student immersion and networking. Unfortunately there are very limited financial aid options for transfer students who are not Virginia residents. My degree program was very rigorous, but it prepared me for a government career."

"George Mason University is located in Northern Virginia and its proximity to DC is a bonus. The Marketing program is relatively small compared to other programs within the business school. This results in straight forward courses with little variety compared to the Management program. The marketing faculty are well-educated with great professional connections. Overall the school does little to help connect students with marketing/pr firms in the area which is surprising considering some of the largest firms in the world are located in the area. The really nice aspect of the marketing program is the fact that the faculty are very involved with the students and the curriculum. Recently they have been working with students and the Business school to develop a more rigorous curriculum with more variety. I would recommend this school to others only because of the professors."

"George Mason University has pros and cons just like every university. Diversity of students from every background was high and made it possible to learn from other who had different experiences. Options to participate in research are growing if you are an ambitious student who seeks them out. While the school is just over 40 years old it is making a large impact on society by producing professionals in many fields."

"For a graduate degree, the curriculum is very accommodating to what you want to study. There are 3 classes that are required, otherwise the bulk of your credits are earned through ensembles and lessons. This degree allows for a lot of time for independent practice as well as teaching in the area."

"George Mason University is an outstanding school for graduate studies. I was able to work with my graduate advisor to make the degree work for me rather than just checking off boxes for the degree. The faculty are all very professional and amazing. Most of the music faculty are either in professional ensembles (military bands or National Symphony Orchestra), or are retired from professional ensembles. The location is incredible. Being so close to D.C I am able to got to live concerts and perform regularly. I definitely recommend the music program at George Mason University."
