(Some categories do not apply and are left blank intentionally. I am attending online.) Grand Canyon University fills a need for those of us not physically located near a University to attend face to face classes. Due to a move, I had to disenroll from my program and wanted to find somewhere that I could get started again quickly. Grand Canyon offers that opportunity with classes starting every month. The admissions process was ridiculously simple and may fool some into thinking that classes will be the same, but the academic challenge is there and you can't expect to waltz in and get a degree you don't work for. The distance learning program is extremely responsive to students and provide support throughout the process.

Degree: Religious Studies
Graduation Year: 2014

The pros of my program is the establishment of a graduation team that consists of an enrollment counselor, financial aid counselor, and an academic counselor (student service advisor). They are supportive of students from the beginning of the their academic journey to the end. I also love how the academic counselor calls periodically to check on students in the duration of their program. The only con I have is that instant chat is not available on the online classroom system (LoudCloud). Instant chat would allow students to converse with fellow classmates regarding the coursework without waiting for an email.

Degree: Healthcare Administration
Graduation Year: 2017

I Graduated from GCU in 2012 with my MSN and loved the ability and flexibility the school had to offer. I am now ready to begin my Doctorate studies and feel very blessed that GCU can once again meet my educational goals. The only con that I can foresee in this program is the lack of one on one connection that is needed in while writing a dissertation. However the program does offer two class residency where I go up to GCU and meet with committees that can help give me feedback on my dissertation.

Degree: Early Childhood Education
Graduation Year: 2014

I am an online graduate student. Grand Canyon University was great for me because I could attend class when I wanted to, since there are no set times that classes meet I could be more flexible. This was great because I work full time and have a family to care for in the evenings. I also liked this program because it was more affordable than my local university and still provided a quality education. I learned about many new concepts in the field of early childhood education. The cons of this graduate program is not having face to face contact with other students and instructors because it is an online program, and not having a connection with other students.

Degree: Elementary Education
Graduation Year: 2014

Grand Canyon University is an excellent choice to receive an online Masters degree in Elementary Education. The program is flexible where students can work and complete their classes online one at a time. It also features an online learning community where students can interact with each other within a discussion post forum and complete assignments. The LoudCloud feature is a unique computer system where it allows students to easily network with professors and organize their classroom resources. The university offers plenty of support from student service advisors, professors as well as enrollment advisors. Lastly, the student education specialist will work with students throughout the program assisting them through their practicum and student teaching experiences. Even though students must make their own arranges for the practicum experience, it offers a variety of financial aid award packages and exhibits a positive learning community where students and faculty can encourage each other throughout the program. Grand Canyon is a great choice to receive a Christian education in Elementary Education.

Degree: Organizational Leadership
Graduation Year: 2014

The accessibility, availability, follow through, and great attitude of my student advisor has been quite impressive. The dedication of the professors has been amazing.. The Doctoral community network online, which provides access to building supportive, friendly relationships with professors and students, as well as resources and tutorials has been fantastic! The academic rigour is definitely challenging...as one would expect from a doctoral program, and then some...The professors and fellow students really push each individual to think deeply, work hard, and reach past previously set goals..The mission is to use our knowledge and skills to empower and serve others. There has only been one aspect of GCU that I did not appreciate...In the midst of my program, I found out that they were redesigning my program for prospective students.I really wanted to substitute one of the ethics classes for a behavioral health class.I had already taken an ethics class at that point,, and the preferred class would have been much more beneficial f or me, but I was not permitted to switch. I also believe that a few business administration classes would have been helpful since it was an organizational leadership degree. Many of us hope to run our own departments or agencies, so that would have been appreciated.. I am very proud to be a GCU doctoral candidate..Overall I have been very happy with my experience with GCU, and would be honored to become a professor with this university!!I'm glad I chose GCU, and would do it again..in a heartbeat! I can't wait for graduation this year!
