"The staff has been supportive and patient. They have truly helped me and even professors will go the extra mile. As a private institution it is expensive, but for students who use their education wisely it is well worth it."

"So far, I love the program. Our class is no bigger than 40 people and I will be with these same people throughout the 2 year program. It gives us a chance to get to know and trust my classmates as well as build networking connections. The program allows for a great amount of group work which combines different ideas to make for a more effective way of working. The only con I can really think of is how much it cost. It cost about $20,000 a year and at the end of my two year program I will have $40,000 in student loans. I am just looking for a way to lessen the blow of paying back my student loans."

"Master's in Christian Counseling: Pro's: Prepares students to take the LPC exam, 100% pass ratio. Great access to professors with clinical experience. Small program with a lot of access to staff and excellent resources. Challenging materials, great preparatory opportunties. Cons: Minimal scholarship opportunity"

"Pros: convenience to residence and freeway, strong graduate programs, faculty support, small classes, faith-based yet inclusive and welcoming of other cultures, expansion in every aspect, financial aid and scholarships available Cons: would prefer more class offerings for graduate program during day (mornings and early afternoon), most are between 5-9 to accommodate working adults but some have work or other family obligations at night so a flexible class schedule would help tremendously. Internet library page needs improvement (lead directly to "alternate site" and early instances of blackboard are still in search engine results. Opening school email and my.hbu.edu on smartphone is not functional...needs updating so we can use mobile phones to access these sites easier (view full site instead of mobile site)."

"The pros of the graduate programs at Houston Baptist University are that they are uniquely and intricately designed for the interests of the student population along with that of surrounding and successful companies. I don't know that there are any cons."

"HBU is great because it's a small campus/community so the classes are very personal and you can tell the professors really care about the academic success of each of their students. The only real con is that because it's a private university, tuition is higher than normal than other schools."

"I like the small class sizes as it allows for more interaction between the students and makes it easier for the teachers to get their message across"

"Since this is a private school, students are able to get to know faculty and staff members on a personal basis. This can be an advantage for graduate students, especially when life in general can't be put on pause for school."

"The courses that I have taken so far have been extremely applicable to what teachers really need to know. I have learned a lot about different philosophies of teaching, strategies for managing the classroom, and incorporating technology effectively. The professors understand that many of the students are also working full time, so he work load is not too much. I feel that all we do in class will directly help me as a teacher. However if you are not working full time, it might be inconvenient that all the classes are night classes. Also, the advising is not very organized; they don't really show you what classes you'll be taking throughout your degree plan. And financial aid does not help you find outside funding sources. I wish I had more help with that."
