The School of Education is a wonderful place. The Higher Education program is rigorous and has plenty of opportunity for research.

Most students in the structural engineering program went to undergrad at Iowa State, so the professors teach their classes as an extension of the undergrad equivalent. Students who went to other institutions can feel lost.

If all you want is research this is the place for you. Faculty are not focused on classes due to research and publication pressure.

Great level of education. I don't think there are big differences between ISU CE and other relative top ranked programs in the US!

Iowa State has connections with many corporate sponsors which allows them to have state of the art research facilities. There is a lot of cooperation between departments which allows students whose research interests fall between areas to have mixed committees or to co-major.
