Degree: Nurse Practitioner (Family)

JCHS is a non-profit, private college in Roanoke, Va. The school's primary attribute is toward the health sciences and in this regard the academics are excellent. They are associated with Carilion Clinic, a large trauma hospital in Roanoke. The school has a large adult population and was originally a commuter school. However, in the past few years it has developed a larger, younger student presence in Roanoke with the purchase of a refurbished hotel in downtown Roanoke. If you are interested in your studies and not just going to school to party then I highly recommend JCHS.

Degree: Physician Assistant
Graduation Year: 2016

I was very excited to attend, but was disappointed by some of the instructors and leadership. I feel I will be prepared to do well in my career, but the environment wasn't always the friendliest. If I could go back in time, I'd look for a different school.

Jefferson College of Health Sciences PA program provides a nurturing environment for students to learn. This program is rigorous and stressful but the staff does their best to help you through it. Most of the professors are practicing PAs which is an added bonus because they can give you clinical stories from their own practice as teaching points. Dress code and attendance policy are strict but from what I gather it is like that all over the country.

Degree: Biomedical Sciences
Graduation Year: 2016

Pros: It is a very fine and quality graduate school education. Cons: I feel that the same quality of education could be found at a public school for a much lower cost.

The faculty is responsive and accessible. The administrative support is very, very slow!

Jefferson College does an excellent job preparing students both academically and professionally for a broad range of careers in healthcare. Jefferson College is a private institution and therefore cost of attendance is higher than some surrounding programs. I believe however these costs are offset post graduation with job opportunities.
