"Kansas State University has an excellent Political Science program. The professors truly love what they do and it shows. They are extremely knowledgeable, so much so that many, if not all, are published in some capacity. The political science department is definitely in the pro category of KSU. I don't have any cons as I have nothing negative to say about KSU. My department did a wonderful job educating me and if I had to do it all over again, I would still select Kansas State University's political science graduate program."

"There are a lot of opportunities available that help with many aspects of being a graduate student. We go to several conferences, grant writing opportunities, etc. There is alot of work involved and at some times it can be very overwhelming, but for the most part the people you work with and are around are there to support and help you through!"

"I'm in the K-State graduate program for Academic Advising. This is a high quality distance education experience using technology and the latest and greatest research on this new field of teaching and learning. I would recommend to anyone who is interested in academic advising in higher education."

"Kansas State University's Regional and Community Planning program is a part of the top ranked College of Architecture, Planning and Design. Planning students get to interact with Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Interior Architecture students and faculty. They also have the opportunity to take classes outside the college. You get a very interdisciplinary education and that is what the urban planning industry is like. You will have all the needed skills to fit into a traditional planning job, non profit, regional planning agencies etc. There is still the learning curve once you get on the job, but you have developed to the skills to learn fast. The skills you learn are very transferable and you can use them in a variety of industries. With the college having such established programs, the alumni network is extensive making it possible to make professional connections which help students get internships and jobs. The faculty and staff are great and supportive, you will always find assistance and guidance. There will always be someone to turn too. You will also make great friends within this college. The programs are smaller than most and you form great friendships with your peers. The only con would be the location... Although the K-State is located in a great and fun college town (Manhattan, KS), it is a two hour drive to Kansas City, where there are lot more internship, job opportunities and resources. So it can be hard to make connections, but that is why the large alumni network comes in handy."

"Kansas State University is a great school and I am proud to be one of their graduates. Some of the benefits of being a graduate of KSU's political science department is as follows: 1. The professors are driven, motivated, and extremely knowledgeable in their field. 2. The professors expect excellence and work with you to ensure that you meet their expectations. 3. The program gives you no more than you can bare. You may think you cannot do it, but after a successful semester, you know that you can. Furthermore, you come out that much more knowledgeable about the various aspects of political science. The only downside of the graduate program is that it ends so soon. I know time feels like it has frozen when you are in school, but it ends so fast. Enjoy it as long as you possibly can."

"One can read the same books and write the same papers anywhere at any program. It is the quality of mentorship and the availability of faculty that sets Kansas State University apart from others. Graduate school can be a disorienting place with its own codes and sets of expectations. Navigating the grants, the opportunities, the research process, etc. can be bewildering. The faculty here are always willing to set aside their own interests to help students figure it all out. I have received an enormous amount of quality instruction, advice, and feedback from faculty inside and outside of my committee."

"Pros: Great advisors who give good career advice; friendships made with cohorts; happy hour every Friday; flexibility in the research program/being able to do what I want to do in terms of research. Cons: Weird climate issue between faculty; terrible statistics sequence of classes; too many classes hinder my ability to progress in my research"

"The graduate school is relatively small comparing to other universities. Most graduate students have some kind of funding from their departents. Faculties and staffs are very nice and responsible( probably because they have fewer student to deal with.)"

"The graduate program is overall pretty good. We need more domestic students in the graduate programs. We are doing well in research but still need to manage better when it comes to using the resources we have on campus for research purposes."
