Degree: Health Sciences
Graduation Year: 2018

The master's program for speech-language pathology at Lamar University is a great program to pursue this field of study. The graduate program offers quality education from knowledgeable professors. The faculty, consisting of experienced licensed speech-language pathologists, also allows for guided clinical training and adequate resources necessary for clinical practice. With the small student to faculty ratio, there are opportunities to build relationships with future colleagues, actively participate in lectures, and receive more individualized feedback to ensure understanding of material. The program helps its students reach their potential as future speech-language pathologists.

Degree: Counseling
Graduation Year: 2018

Lamar University Clinical Mental Health program prepares its students for the real world of providing mental health services to clients. The school recently received it CACREP and we all are very excited about this accomplishment. The professors are dedicated to ensuring that students are well prepared and knowledgeable in the profession. I am looking forward to my new profession and I would recommend Lamar to everyone.

The online masters program is simple but you have to manage your time wisely.

Degree: Information Technology
Graduation Year: 2017

It is located in a very unsafe and crime area that is not for students. No quality research and no proper research teams. Good in curriculum. Helpful faculty but lot less opportunities to pursue real research and less job opportunities. Overall tuition fee is less but the learning is not much except for certain courses.

Degree: Special Education
Graduation Year: 2018

I have had a great experience so far at Lamar University. I am enrolled in the online MEd in Special Education program. The program is rigorous (expect to spend 15+ hours per week on coursework) and fast-paced (in my program, each class is 5-weeks long). The expectations and goals are laid out clearly and directions for assignments come with accompanying rubrics. As a working parent (I'm a full-time teacher), I highly recommend this program.

Degree: Communications
Graduation Year: 2015

I studied Communication Corporate while at Lamar University. Coming to this department as a psychology major, I found it a lot more applicable to all jobs on a corporate level. We were taught how to communicate on a business level as well as a interpersonal level that I found very valuable because it taught me how to approach people and situations so that I could effectively convey the correct message in the correct manner. Aside from the communication, the corporate aspect taught us much about advertising, marketing, media, and public relations.

Degree: School Counseling
Graduation Year: 2018

I am currently enrolled in the school counseling masers degree program at Lamar University. The program is fully online and very convenient. Each course in the 48 hour program lasts for five weeks. So the student has classes for five weeks and then a one week break before beginning the next course. The material covered is very relevant to school counseling. The professors hold webinars once per week so that the students can interact, learn, and ask questions. Students are expected to post and respond to discussion boards each week as well as complete assignments that the professor provides. Each week is clearly laid out so there is not any confusion as to what needs to be accomplished each week. I would highly recommend this program to anyone hoping to become a school counselor.

Degree: Civil Engineering
Graduation Year: 2018

I am currently enrolled in MS in Civil Engineering program at Lamar University. I will be graduating at 2018. Lamar university is at located Beaumont, Texas, which is a small town. Living expenses is low here. Also, Lamar University provides Out-of-State Waiver to international students. Therefore, overall cost of attendance is pretty affordable. Lamar University offers a General Civil Engineering degree. Various courses such as structural, geotech, water resources, transportation and environmental engineering courses are offered by the department. Here, you can take any courses in streams that mentioned above and graduate. You can also choose just one stream and graduate if you want specialization in one field. So, the course is pretty flexible.
