"Overall my graduate experience at Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge (LSU-BR), in the Dept of Geography and Anthropology, was enjoyable and instructive. I finished with a master's, and while the Anthropology half of the dept does not offer a PhD, the option to obtain a PhD is available through the department as a whole. However, few (almost none) are accepted to the PhD program in either Anthropology or Geography without a master's degree in hand. The success of a PhD in Anthropology at LSU-BR depends a great deal on the major adviser chosen, so prospective applicants should interview faculty thoroughly. The combination of geography and anthropology in this program are complementary schools of thought and offer a unique experience at LSU-BR. The social setting of the University, as well as the social aspect of the department, offers quite a diverse cultural experience, which is definitely a desirable quality for any Anthropology graduate program."

"The Masters of Architecture program at Louisiana State University consists of a healthy competitive environment, a very caring and knowledgeable faculty educated from prestigious schools across the nation and abroad, and a wholesome curriculum which covers a variety of subjects, tools, and technology related to the field of architecture. The course loads are often challenging, but the program is set within a university where school spirit is highly valued and the entire community is involved. Baton Rouge, while it may have some issues with areas of high crime, is a very diverse city with tons to do!"

"This is a great program with knowledgable professors and staff. The class sizes are small and promote a 'family' feel. Students are encouraged to ask questions and become involved in the department. The workload is quite strenuous and may pose a challenge for those that aren't ready for it. A wide array of research labs and clinical experiences are available however, pediatrics are a main focus of this program."

"My graduate program is a invaluable opportunity for anyone interested in the intersection of media and public affairs. University administration and school and J-school faculty share a desire to give students the tools they need to be sucessful, including accessibility, ian challenging and informative curriculum and an excellent financial package. I encourage others to apply!"

"When I was applying, LSU was one of the only schools with funding for research assistantships (not just teaching assistantships (most))."

"Flagship university in Louisiana. Competitive among southern states. However, if you have better choice in states other than the four southern states, don't come here."

"Many of the English department faculty are generous in their support of students on their academic projects and career advising. The English Department has a number of social events, and the community is overall a welcoming one (though lacking in diversity). Baton Rouge is a decent town; however, it's hard to get around without a car. Getting to school is easy thanks to the awesome (and free) LSU Tiger Trails bus system, but getting anywhere else without a car is difficult."
