Degree: Counseling

The Guidance and Counseling program fosters great relationships among students and faculty, and encourages self-reflection. By providing a safe and welcoming environment, as well as addressing current issues in educational counseling, make the program amazing and worth every penny of tuition.

Degree: Education
Graduation Year: 2017

I am currently pursuing a master's in education and a credential at Loyola Marymount University. I am over joyed to be studying at LMU, being a first generation student. Yet, there are many things that come up that present some difficulties. The main three cons that I can attest to are the lack of classes available for the program, having to balance a 40 hour week and school with a wide ranging possible class schedule, and lastly the burden of tuition. Although there are probably many more burdens I have yet to name these three I felt as the most important. The pros to pursuing a graduate education far out way the struggles that one would have to go through, I would be able to better support my family and further my career with a helping hand. The program I have invested my time in is a pilot program, I understand there will be things that come up unexpectedly. I just want to teach in urban areas and help children like me succeed in life.

Degree: Elementary Education

The faculty and staff are genuinely invested in your education and actively work with you throughout your studies. With small class sizes and highly qualified professors, the quality of education far exceeds that of most CSU or UC schools. However, because of its location, off-campus housing and expenses can be very pricy.

Degree: School Psychology
Graduation Year: 2015

I recently graduated for the School Psychology M.A., Ed. S, P.P.S program at LMU. I felt like the program really expanded my confidence and competence within the field. I feel confidence in my role as a school psychologist and my ability to support and help all students reach their full potential. I feel that I have the ability to be a leader at my schools while working with school staff, students, families, and the community. LMU does a great job at making sure all 10 NASP Domains are covered and personally experience within the fieldwork ( practicing and internship). Overall, I feel that I got the best education I could have received from this program.

I love LMU. The professors are overall amazing. Intellectual atmosphere is only lacking because the students don't care as much as the professors, but if you're a good student you'll get an amazing education out of your experience at LMU. Great opportunities for leadership and service, too.
