Student & Graduate Reviews

Graduation Year: 2020

I completed my M.Ed at Lynchburg College in 2010 through a cohort model. I knew that in order to be my best I needed face to face education with an accountability group that would hold me to a high standard. Lynchburg College provided all of that, and more! I've created friendships with professors, colleagues, and the community through their program. I liked it so much that it's drawn me back in as I complete the Ed.D program. What a luxury to have in my community!

Lynchburg College's DPT program has top of the line facilities and excellent professors that are looking to make the best PTs possible.

Degree: Physical Therapy
Graduation Year: 2019

There are several pros for my graduate program. These pros include obtaining a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution and being able to serve in the Navy as a physical therapist. After serving the military as a physical therapists, I plan to come home to rural Virginia and work in my small town community. There are also some cons for my graduate program. For example, tuition alone will cost over $100,000 since I will be attending a private institution. In addition, I will have to pay for books and an apartment which can also be a great cost. Being awarded this scholarship would help immensely in the journey of becoming a physical therapist and giving back to both the military and civilian world.

Degree: Special Education
Graduation Year: 2016

I love the faculty at LC. The professors are so accessible and they truly care about you both as a student and as a person. Not much can be said for the city of Lynchburg, though. The public transportation system is a farce; the social scene is all but non-existent. The financial aid staff is helpful, but the scholarships available are very small and very limited.

Degree: Educational Leadership
Graduation Year: 2016

Lynchburg College has a unique program that is targeted for existing educators. Teachers and guidance counselors are put into a cohort program together for a rigorous two years of non-stop classes, internships, practicum hours, and learning experience. By creating the cohort program for existing educators, LC has given each student a classroom of peers who understand the everyday challenge of already being a part of an educational system. This also allows the students to have peers to collaborate with and the students are reaching for the same goal.

Degree: Nursing
Graduation Year: 2014

Some of the categories do not apply to my specific online program. I really appreciate the flexibility of Lynchburg College's MSN of Nursing Education online program; it allows a working professional to be full time or part time. The class sizes are small and each student receives personalized interaction and feedback from the professors. I have found that each professor has a vested interest in me as a student and all have been approachable, communicating frequently. The potential con to any online program is the difficulty in creating a learning community within the virtual classroom; however, I find that despite the limitations online leaning, the LC Nursing faculty goes above and beyond to facilitate that learning community. I am very pleased with first year and am looking forward to continued learning at Lynchburg College.

The program is not yet accredited, but hopefully will be in April 2013. I think Lynchburg is a perfect setting for such a difficult curriculum, it has just enough night life to keep a person busy but not too many distractions.
