"I am interested in creating a warp drive and want to understand current physics theory to sense whether it is possible or not. Although my major in collage was electrical engineering, I am reasonably skilled in mathematics and Mathematica is my favorite computer application."

"MIT is a place of endless opportunities, incredible peers, and top-quality academics. The work is challenging and borderline overwhelming at times, but because of that, everything I have encountered post-graduation seems easier in comparison. I would encourage all prospective students to think carefully about their values before attending MIT. If you have issues with balancing personal needs and academic goals, it is easy to work yourself sick here. Keeping a group of friends, taking a break from homework, and addressing your health are all key to having an enjoyable and successful time at this school."

"MIT is a place where you are with the smartest and brightest students in the country. The courses are difficult, but they prepare you well to do research in the future. The school also provides great support in terms of resources and personal needs."

"MIT is an excellent school for it's intensely rigorous academics, brilliant student body, and networking potential after graduation. The drawbacks are the high focus on science and engineering at the expense of other subjects and this is a place that will make you miserable if you aren't deeply interested in the subject matter."

"MIT is an amazing place if you are up for a challenge and are interested in STEM, Economics, Architecture. Most students are interested not only in their field or research, but also in many other ideas and activities . The university is extremely supportive of creative, intelligent students, especially if you take initiative to seek things out. The undergraduate culture is mostly very collaborative and not cut-throat competitive (at least in my department). The workload and culture are quite intense, so it is not for everybody, but I and many of my friends thrived at MIT."

"Attending MIT was the most difficult and most influencing thing that has ever happened to me in my life. There are hundreds and hundreds of student organizations, clubs, sports, professional societies, and research opportunities (even as undergraduates). The only limit to opportunity is what you make of it, and how much you can take on and maintain a healthy lifestyle. The entire school community is incredibly inclusive and supportive, and even while dealing with extremely difficult coursework and demands, it is the most worthwhile and rewarding experience imaginable."

"I got a Prestige Scholarship. I went to my IT class and studied hard. As soon as I went home, I studied day and night, when I had time. I currently have my own business in 2 states. I am hoping any future scholars can learn from my story."

"The department is not as well-rounded as other engineering departments (such as electrical engineering or computer science), which is a real shame, because they have great talent. As a student in the graduate program, your "network" is limited and most other MIT students don't consider you one of them. The bond is not as strong."

"My program is phenomenal and I am very happy here. I love all the the work being done around campus. What is even better is that no matter your discipline or the college you are in, you are highly encouraged to take classes in areas completely different from your original discipline. They care that you are brilliant and that you are creative. MIT is a phenomenal place with down to earth, friendly, happy, people. It is a very unpretentious place to be and I am happy to be here."

"The school is every bit as tough as its reputation. However, obtaining a degree from MIT, which requires a well rounded background in all fields of science in addition to a student's choice of major, will make you well prepared to overcome any other obstacle in your academic and professional career!"

"The students at MIT are amazing. The diversity is incredible and the support that the student body gives each other is fantastic. The faculty are top notch and I have been able to increase the size of my network tremendously since starting at Sloan. The work load is quite intense, especially during the core semester. There is also not a lot of available scholarships."

"Education there was top notch but I'm sure you can get very similar curriculum elsewhere. However, the value of going to MIT would be the people you meet and the network you build. You meet highly motivated and inspired people from diverse backgrounds that challenge you to look beyond and achieve great things. It can also make you feel highly inadequate, however all in all it was a positive peer pressure experience."
