It is way too expensive, especially when industrial labor jobs pay quite a bit more.

It's a medium size college, very personable and welcoming. It offers many different majors and minors, and has a variety of distinguished professors.

I received my undergraduate degree and graduate degree from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana. I studied Special Education and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I have been a Special Education teacher for six years now and I feel that I was very well prepared for my career through the excellent professors and resources that my education at MSU provided. I recently had the privilege of taking my youngest daughter on a tour of the campus during her First-Time Freshman Orientation and it was a glorious day! I was so proud to help put her mind at ease of knowing that her own mother had gone before her to pave the way for her experience. We are a family of MSU graduates. My youngest sister attended MSU, and my oldest daughter as well as two nieces did the same. It's easy to encourage your own children and family when you have had such an incredible experience and opportunity. I would recommend McNeese State University because of it's incredible academic excellence and the integrity of the staff and students that attend. Good luck to your endeavors and I hope you choose McNeese State University!

Degree: Nursing
Graduation Year: 2012

McNeese State University College of Nursing paved hope and opportunity to many flourishing Register Nurses. For four years, I have had the opportunity to grow in career as a RN, and allow the knowledge I gained, as an undergrad, to reach the momentum set forth by my teacher, advisors, and preceptors. The bachelors program set a strong tone of discipline for us students. The difficulty of the program was high, but the fraternal atmosphere was displayed by our instructors and Dean. Together they provided us with one the most important tools used in nursing, team work leadership and respect!

Degree: School Counseling
Graduation Year: 2016

The best part about the School Counseling program at McNeese State University is that it is nationally accredited and in my hometown. The assignments and tests are easier in comparison to other graduate courses I have taken at a different university. Also, the tuition is substantially lower than the last university I attended.

Degree: Psychology
Graduation Year: 2017

I don't know all the in's and out's of this school's graduate program. From what I hear, it is a good program that covers the material well and provides opportunities for internships. The professors are easy to talk to and are for the most part very helpful concerning course material, schedules, and advising. I would like to see more graduate assistant positions in the counseling psychology program.

Degree: Mathematics
Graduation Year: 2015

I really enjoy McNeese's graduate program. The classes are small so there is plenty of one-on-one time with my professors. The graduate students are all friendly and extremely helpful. The main perk is that I am from Lake Charles so I am familiar with the surrounding area and my family is close by for support. I have a graduate teaching assistantship that is helping to prepare me for my future career as a college professor. I also obtained a position in the Office of Research and Sponsored programs. I guess the only downfall is that there is not a PhD program. Overall, I am glad to have attended McNeese for my undergraduate degrees in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Physics and am proud to attend to obtain my Master's in Mathematics.

McNeese State University provides very good quality of education and is affordable, but is primarily a commuter campus and is a very small campus.
