"The Applied Statistics for Social Science Research (A3SR) program at New York University is fantastic. All the professors and advisors care immensely about their students and are passionate about their education. It is a new program that started in 2013 and so it is continuously updating and improving for its students. The professors and advisors help incoming students transition back into academia seamlessly by providing review materials and information about graduate-level study. The program is small (my cohort is only 22 students), so everyone helps each other and there is a very collaborative atmosphere."

"New York University's social work master's program is well known and respected in the field. The professors are very accomplished and promote rich classroom discussions that incorporate a variety of viewpoints. (Several of the other instructors were good, too, but the professors impressed me the most.) Many of the readings were very informative and had a good mix of theory and tips on how to put theory into practice. I was a bit disappointed with the internship component; I really wanted to experience a different type of practice setting than I did in my two years in the program."

"I met wonderful people getting my MBA at New York University. The program is strong at matching in consulting, investment banking and marketing roles in traditional industries. Less traditional jobs or jobs in less traditional industries have less support."

"NYU was good as a grad school. I'm not sure if if it would be a great school to attend as an undergrad."

"New York University's Silver School of Social Work has opened my eyes to a whole new field! As an undergraduate musical theater major, I didn't have any idea that I would later be studying Social Work at a place like NYU. The Silver School offers a 16 month accelerated MSW program that has allowed me to fast-track my path to becoming a professional social worker. I am interested in utilizing my masters along with my bachelor's degree to provide theater education to young people in low income communities. I have felt very supported at NYU despite my unconventional background and look forward to bringing all the great information I'm learning out into the field next May!"

"NYU was a great school. Living in the city was a once in a lifetime experience. The education you get from the city itself is once in a lifetime. The professors were top notch in their field and had a lot to share. I also had amazing clinical experiences in the city which I know helped me when applying to grad school. The cost is very high, and financial aid is pretty poor, just not a priority. However, I know that it had an immeasurable impact on my education and future success. It's not for everyone, you really have to figure out how to make it on your own, but it is a great school"

"I love this school. The biology program has a long history of great work. The current faculty are very supportive and approachable. The department also has strong ties to the medical school located on 33rd street. It's amazing to be around top class scientists and physicians. If you plan to enter medicine or science, definitely think strongly about coming here. You're in the heart of Manhattan and will receive a world class education."

"I would highly recommend New York University's Masters in Social Work program because of the caliber of instruction and guidance that many of the professors provide to students. A Masters degree in Social Work is focused not only on learning how to best support individual clients, families, and communities. It sets the student on a path of self-discovery and self-knowledge in service of building healthy therapeutic relationships. The professors and staff at NYU Silver School of Social Work are passionate and dedicated to helping student learn and grow through that journey."

"New York University offered a plethora of opportunities to learn and grow as a student. They email networking opportunities as well as outside learning opportunities. There's a strong sense of social justice within the school. There are very high expectations of their students and the workload is much higher than other schools (so I hear)."

"I was in the chemistry department. The PHD program lasts from 5-8 years depending on your principle investigator. The first one-two year you take classes. During the first semester you are required to do two rotations in different labs to decided what group you want to join. In the spring semester of your first year you officially join a lab where you will spend the rest of your graduate degree. In the spring of your second year you take an oral exam called the qualifying examination to become a PHD candidate. Then usually in your 5th year or when you are ready to graduate you take the Pre-Defense. It consists of two parts: oral presentation describing your research and then the original proposal presentation. You need to submit an outline of your thesis and a written original proposal. If you pass the Pre-Defense you can do the Defense six months later. Once you write your thesis and submit it to your committee you can Defend."
