Degree: Social Work
Graduation Year: 2012

Norfolk State has a very good Social Work program that gives a overall view of the field through technology, in-class learning, research, and field practicum. However, the financial aid department is a major stressor for many students. Overall, the Unversity is a great place to learn, experience and broaden your horizons both academically and personally.

Degree: Engineering
Graduation Year: 2012

Some areas of the graduate program were challenging and other areas were a little simpler then they should have been, overall a great program. The faculty are currently working on revision of the program to maintain a challenging and rewarding educational environment.

Degree: Counseling
Graduation Year: 2011

A student will get out of any program what they want to receive. Your education is your responsibility. Although Norfolk State has a poor reputation amongst locals, I found the professors very knowledgeable and supportive. There was probably one professor in the whole program who I questioned his credentials, but many did not complain because his class was an easy "A".

Degree: Music
Graduation Year: 2014

The education and experience I have gotten from the Norfolk State University Graduate School of Music are beyond valuable and represent a solid bridge to my career and working life. The small class sizes, one on one teacher/student interaction, and availability of teachers for advisement and consultation help to enhance the educational experience. I truly appreciate the advantages I was afforded by attending NSU and I would recommend this program to anyone who wants to take part in a positive progressive graduate school program.

I love NSU. The support and education you receive from the professionals in the School of Social Work is wonderful. Would not have picked any other place to obtain my next degree!

Degree: Social Sciences
Graduation Year: 2012

I received my graduate degree at Norfolk State University. Although majority of my time was spend taking classes at nights, Norfolk State University has some of the best campus activities. Student body is engaging and committed to the support of students on campus. Faculty are dedicated to ensuring your needs are meet. They are very approachable and genuinely care for their students. Some of the cons about the school are minor. I would recommend going with groups of people at night, mainly as a safety precaution.

Degree: Social Sciences
Graduation Year: 2013

I believe that NSU does not challenge their students to compete on a national scale. Although NSU has its cons, the pros are that this is a tight knitted close relationship with the faculty and staff, as well as the relationship with peers. I enjoy the program, but it is not CACREP accredited.
