NCSU puts a lot of effort into career prep, which is great for Master's students!

The faculty and academic support network are very helpful. Opportunities for interdisciplinary studies within my program are diverse and readily available. There are many international students in the college of agriculture, which has been incredibly valuable in helping to form a world view of agricultural practices.

Great school but stipends are on the low end and have not increased in years (even though cost of living has pretty much doubled).

Pros: there are multiple disciplines in our department so there is the potential to work with other scientists in different fields and collaborate. The location of the university within the research triangle is good. Cons: the dept. is spread out in such a way that feeling like a cohesive dept. isn't always easy, but we try. .

Wonderful facilities and research opportunities. Centennial campus is a partnership between industry and academia which exposes students to job opportunities without leaving campus. Additionally, RTP is only a few miles away and is a major job market.

The program has a nice blend of practical skills and theory, something that is beneficial to training public historians. I have also found that for the most part, the professors are very approachable and will do their best to assist you.
