"Pros: there are multiple disciplines in our department so there is the potential to work with other scientists in different fields and collaborate. The location of the university within the research triangle is good. Cons: the dept. is spread out in such a way that feeling like a cohesive dept. isn't always easy, but we try. ."

"The faculty are top-notch and are very willing to open up their doors and talk with whomever asks. The graduate students are also a fairly tight-knit group. The location is very good (minutes from downtown Raleigh) and I really like the degree to which the university collaborates with industry leaders to support and promote research."

"Pros Good balance of courses, research and overall doctoral program evaluation. Supportive Graduate Program, director and everyone else to help, encourage graduate students to perform well, overcoming problems. Cons Lack of sufficient grad students in a specific area which can create a more stimulating research ecosystem. Lack of more diverse courses and instructors offering courses, which can excite students to dive into the subject."
