As a full time teacher, finding the time to pursue a master's degree was difficult. Northcentral University eased that difficulty. Unlike other online graduate programs, you do not need to post on forums weekly. You simply submit your assignment and interact with professors as needed. The rigor is still there and you can still interact with your classmates on The Commons. However, the program is extremely flexible and designed for someone constantly on the go. The administration is also really friendly and caring. When the flooding in Louisiana occurred, my academic advisor called to see if I was ok and if I was capable of completing my assignment on time. Overall, I'm loving my experience at Northcentral University.

I love the one-to-one model employed at NCU. The 100% doctoral faculty is wonderful as well. The only negative comment I have is the lack of scholarship opportunities for current students (maintaining GPA, etc.) I love this school and would highly recommend it to anyone considering earning their doctoral degree!

I really enjoy my classes at NCU. The faculty communicates effectively and assists with assignments by providing valuable feedback. I would definitely recommend their online MBA program to family and friends

Degree: Marriage & Family Therapy
Graduation Year: 2017

The school is absolutely expensive and they do not offer any kind of financial assistance. I am relying solely on student loans which means I will be in debt forever unless I win the lottery. I owe so much is student loans it is absolutely ridiculous. Sometimes I feel like quitting because of the financial burden of getting this degree.

NCU is strong academically because they are one of, if not the only, COAMFTE-accredited program in Marriage and Family Therapy. The material is rigorous but manageable. I feel like the courses provide an in-depth view of the main subject matter in this field. The variety of assignments provides a nice opportunity to gain competence in the field. However, I think the school could do a lot more to build the social network amongst students. The culture of the school seems to be one of trying to keep the students from networking too much, for whatever reason. Sometimes the school officials are slow to address valid student concerns, which can be frustrating particularly since this is an online school so it can already feel out of touch. Overall, I would recommend this school and would enroll again. I think the issues I have with the school can be improved over time.

NCU has really challenged my scholarly abilities. The professors are always available and return assignments with tons of feedback in a timely manner. Professors provide much insight and personal experiences in the higher ed field.

Degree: Instructional Technology
Graduation Year: 2016

Graduate education is a must in this competitive market. Northcentral University's online graduate education provides a one-on-one mentorship fostered by professor and learner. How the educational technology outcomes of this program are utilized is limited only by the imagination of each learner entering into the current technology oriented environment.

I have been to public high schools all over the nation (military brat), home schooled for my last year of high school (a distance learning program), physically attended a community college, completed an online BA, and an online MA (my MA was with NCU). I decided to go back to NCU for my PhD. That is because of all my academic endeavors NCU proved to be the most challenging. At the time I thought that sucked, in all honesty, but looking back I realized it is where I learned the most. Now I am mature enough to say the challenge doesn't 'suck,' and am very happy with the education I am receiving from NCU. They are not in the business of printing diplomas...they are offering an education, but you have to work for it. Their learning model seems to be the best fit for an online environment, and this is coming from someone who has experienced many. The only aspect that I marked NCU down on was Career Support, because after my MA I didn't get a whole lot of help with getting a career started. Granted I didn't necessarily engage with them about it, but nevertheless I felt one of my past universities did a better job of trying to get me into the job market. However, I just started the PhD and I can already tell NCU has stepped up their game. Maybe this time around I will have a new experience with that aspect. The bottom line: If you are looking for a top notch regionally accredited online university that you will be proud of...go with NCU. If you are looking for a piece of paper, keep walking.

The pro's of NCU is the mentor program they offer with each course. You have one-on-one connection with your mentor to assist with any questions throughout the course. The con's of the program are the difference in time zones.
