I like NCU. The teachers, advisers, and other staff are always helpful. Also, course content is thorough and relevant to course topics. The con is probably of any online program is the ability to socialize. However NCU created a portal where students can talk to each other. It helps but it doesn't equal the ability to talk to people directly in classes and such. Other than that I'm really enjoying the university, my program, and all that I'm learning. I would strongly suggest NCU for those who want the convenience of online, but also a high quality education.

The online PhD program at Northcentral University is 100% online and almost 100% self study. While each class has a one-on-one faculty mentor, the student is responsible for doing all the readings, research, and paper writing independently. If you are expecting faculty members who are actively involved in your future career, NCU is not the right online program for you. NCU faculty is 90% adjunct so the faculty are not committed to your individual success. While many of the faculty members are good, they are not great with average professional backgrounds and often their backgrounds do not fit the course that they are mentoring. Due to the nature of the NCU online program, the university is not supportive of student feedback and request for futher input/feedback from faculty. It's a good program if you are limited by time and location to do an on the ground PhD program, but if you are looking for faculty and university leadership committed to your success, I recommend that you not pursue NCU for your PhD or DBA.

The fees cost a lot because it is a private school. The school does not support careers, and does not offer scholarships.

I am currently attending NCU and I am really enjoying the course curriculum. I have a full-time job and I am still able to balance work, being married, and personal fitness while taking two Master's level classes. My instructor is very helpful and encouraging. Well worth my student loans.

The school staff as well as faculty are dedicated to student's success. They ensure that student is following curriculum as well as attending classes while learning skills to meet graduation requirements. Staff is very thorough in ensuring students keep their engagements as well as their responsibilities and that speaks volume when it comes to the value of their degrees.

I like the fact that it is online. I do like the fact that my admissions/retention advisor contacts me on a regular basis to check up. I wish there was more ancillaries for the students (i.e., voice over powerpoints), worksheets, etcetera. Some work was just busy work. It would not benefit me to know how to calculate standard deviation by hand. I rather want to know why this is significant...what it means.
