Degree: Education
Graduation Year: 2006

I have gotten both my BA and my MAed living on campus for my BA and my masters through statewide distance learning. They hire professors who are current and relevant in their fields. With my masters the professors worked in education throughout the Valley and it provided excellent networking opportunities. They are the best education school in the state. Out of seven American teachers in a small city at a prestigious school in Turkey, with teachers from all over the US, 3 out of 7 of us had our masters in education from NAU. It speaks to the value and respect for NAU's education program, even at an international level.

The college was great and very involved in the town and other student activities. This makes you feel that you are a part of something bigger than yourself. The professors truly seem to care about you and a wide variety of courses are offered.

Degree: Nursing
Graduation Year: 2018

Northern Arizona University has provided me with the knowledge and tools to safely and confidently care for my patients every day. After receiving a BSN from NAU in 2013, I felt well-prepared, enthusiastic, and confident in starting my nursing practice. Shortly after graduation, I went back to NAU to complete graduate school. Currently, I am working toward obtaining an MSN and Family Nurse Practitioner degree through the Graduate Nursing Program, and I couldn't be more proud to be part of the NAU community. The staff is knowledgeable, efficient, and friendly! They have prepared me for my career, provided me with several opportunities for networking, specifically with the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, and several activities on campus for students. It is important to be able to network with other nursing students for support and guidance throughout the program, and NAU provided that for me. I am 100% satisfied with NAU and I would recommend NAU's nursing program to any potential nurses that are interested in getting a well-rounded and promising education.

Degree: Secondary Education
Graduation Year: 2017

Visiting Northern Arizona University before enrolling in the program was a very warm and welcoming experience. The advisor I had met with was more concerned about the program being a good fit for me and helped me take steps to ensure that it was exactly what I wanted. Having that support was a very important part of the process when deciding on my higher education. NAU stood out from the rest because I felt that most schools are not as supportive and just want to get your money. Throughout this degree program, the faculty and advisors have been overwhelmingly understanding and supportive of my education. You feel like you have a new family because the program is small but intense, as it only takes a year and a half to complete a master's degree in science education along with a teaching certificate. As a graduate level program, the curriculum is rigorous but it still allows room for a part-time job. The school is located in the beautiful town of Flagstaff, with the San Francisco Peaks just to the North. Located at 7,000 ft. the town still has four seasons with a mild winter, not too hot summer and many outdoor activities all year long. A few of my favorite parts about the campus is they have a rock climbing wall at the Recreation center and a snowboarding class, not to mention the many extracurricular outdoor adventures. Flagstaff is the second largest city in Arizona, but you wouldn't know it by the community of caring and adventurous people. The campus is so close to many inspiring National Parks and Monuments and invites people from all around the world to enjoy the beauty of nature. The NAU students are an integral part of what makes Flagstaff so great and would not be as inspiring without the NAU students. I now know what it means to live in a community and Northern Arizona University has impacted many lives including my own for the better.

Degree: Educational Leadership
Graduation Year: 2018

The NAU Educational Leadership program is very comprehensive and practical in its academic structure to build upon research-proven strategies to prepare its students become successful servant leaders in our school system. The early research on effective schools touched on topics familiar today in successful schools. The NAU program focuses on strong leadership and professional development. It is believed that all schools can be effective and all students can learn. Premises to build on and I feel that NAU Educational Leadership program definitely builds on that with its students. The program also gives one the option of taking the course online or in-person, which makes it very convenient. The faculty in the program are former educators administrators or school superintendents. They have a grasp of what the dynamics are currently in education. I highly recommend others to consider NAU for their future educational endeavors.

Degree: Special Education
Graduation Year: 2016

I received my degree from NAU in 2016. I am very happy with my experience in the Masters of Administration program. Prior to graduation I was able to obtain a job in my field. The program focused on leadership for many core classes. It then allowed for others to chose an area of administration that fits best for their career field. Overall great program.

Degree: Elementary Education
Graduation Year: 2018

I decided to pursue a Masters in Education in Elementary Education from NAU because I knew that NAU was a highly sought after institution for educators. Many of the educators that I worked with before starting my graduate program went to NAU to further their educations and to obtain complementary masters degrees so that they could receive a salary boost from their districts. I am a part of the extended campus and could not be happier with my choice. The professors that I have taken classes from have all been extremely understanding and have only ever been interested in my education and making sure that I enjoy what I am doing and understand everything that we are covering. They are all extremely responsive to emails and phone calls, and will take the time out of their days to work with you to make sure that you are on the right track. The advisors in both Tucson and Phoenix have been extremely understanding and have made me feel more comfortable at NAU in the past six months than I ever felt at my undergraduate university. Everybody treats me with respect and I could not have made a better decision in attending NAU.
