Degree: Communications
Graduation Year: 2014

My graduate program was great. It prepared me for my future career, both by receiving a Master's degree and because of the content and experiences I had within the program. I also met a lot of great people and lifelong friends. It was one of the best decisions I've made in my adult life. ODU was a very supportive place to attend college, and I would recommend it to others.

Old Dominion University is a large research institution situated in the downtown area of Norfolk, VA. The Sppech Language Pathology program is well respected in the community. The program provides speech therapy services to the community at the child study center.

I have loved how helpful all of my professors have been! Even though most of my classes have been online, I feel as though I know my professors and they have really put forth effort to get to know me as well. ODU's Education Department also places a strong emphasis on not only individual inquisition as it pertains to learning, but also on collaborative learning. As a future teacher, I think that both of these skills are equally important in preparing for my career.

Old Dominion thoroughly prepared me to be the best teacher I can be and ignited my desire to reach as many others as possible by using my gifts and talents to the fullest. My professors were genuine, helpful, positive experts who gave each student the individual help whenever we needed help. There is no better college for a degree in education!

Pros: supportive, flexible, and approachable faculty; assignments are pertinent to the course; overall cost of program is less than others. Cons: program is still expensive; have to find your own preceptor for clinicals; the campus has had serious student safety issues/high crime rates in the surrounding area.
