"I wish I would have gone to another university. The staff was disrespectful. They don’t offer health insurance but require it. They put you through so much mental anguish yet don’t provide you with student health insurance to fix the damage they have caused on your body and mind. The counseling center only offers a few visits per semester which isn’t helpful. I regret going to this program and I hope the person reading this chooses another university and saves themselves the sanity."

"St. Ambrose was a wonderful institution and I would not trade the educational experiences that I received for the world. The small class size provided an immense amount of support and attention and I felt that there was no way I could fail in that environment. My professors were invested and caring and the content was relevant and timely in all my classes."

"I greatly enjoyed my three years at St Ambrose and I wish i had participated in more on-campus activities and groups. I was at Ambrose on an athletic scholarship and that did take up most of my time, but i enjoyed the campus because it was small. I am still connected to my professors and had a few write my letters of recommendations for graduate school. I still visit with them on campus to discuss certain things of interest as well as on-campus activities that i can help with. Overall, I loved it and the size of the school was perfect for me."

"So, Ambrose was a great school with very dedicated professors and many ways to get involved. While I was there they were revitalizing--new buildings and programs with higher endowment funds. If only the students, staff, and professors had a little more pride. "Oh, it's Ambrose!" I heard numerous times during my four years of undergrad there, "nothing like those other schools that actually have some value!!" And let's be honest here the school did not follow policies very well for dealing with harassment and discrimination. If a student was bothered by another or worse, the staff and professors would just tolerate and let it go. There were multiple serious things happening when I was a student in some of the dorms and even multiple students with some behavioral issues in the classroom and the school's approach was just to let it go. Really wasn't that long ago but now things might be better. Overall good value for education and programs, also offering service and great investment in the community."

"St. Ambrose University School of Social Work is a great program in the Davenport area. It has a small cohort, which is nice when trying to work together and study. The faculty are open to communicating and helping their students succeed. Their empowerment specialization is what I feel stands out from other social work programs. It gives us the tools that create life-long learning and helping others succeed in reaching their goals."

"I was blessed to be accepted to St. Ambrose's PA program just a few years after the program began. While the program is still learning the finer details of classes and schedule, it is a learning process for both sides. Located in the Quad Cities of Iowa/Illinois, you get a small town feel with big city opportunities. The population of the area is very diverse, so the patient population during and clinical rotations grants many opportunities for diversity. The class size is 30, just small enough to feel close to classmates and teachers, yet big enough to be able to branch out on your own."

  • Degree: Nursing
"St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa was the perfect university for me. It was small, without being too small. I had a few large classes, but felt comfortable seeking individualized assistance. The nursing department was top notch. I felt completely prepared not only for nursing boards but to begin my nursing career. I begin graduate school on May 8th, 2017. I will be attending Barnes Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing. I will be obtaining my Master of Science in Nursing; I will be an Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner upon graduating and passing boards. I am so excited about this adventure. Obtaining this scholarship would truly be life changing, as I will continue to pay my undergraduate loans while accumulating additional educational debt. Thank you so much for your consideration."

  • Degree: Occupational Therapy
"This is the first year St. Ambrose is offering a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy, and I am part of the first cohort of the Occupational Therapy Doctorate Program, although they were one of the first schools to have a Masters in OT. I applied for 15 schools (entry level-doctorate and masters programs) all over the country, and was accepted by nine schools. I ultimately choose St. Ambrose because: the cost, the lowest I applied to with a fixed tuition rate and the ability to get a doctorate in the same time it takes to get a masters) , prestige, the program design, and the faculty. I am about to finish midterms of my second semester, and I am so glad I am in this program. Every faculty member has a different background with different insights and views on occupational therapy, therefore the education you receive is very well rounded. Teachers are chosen to teach courses not only based on their background, but also on their interests. All of the faculty love what they do and want their students to be successful. The faculty has said to us since the first day "you will become our colleagues and trusted allies and so we will treat you as such from the start of your education". I feel that I am an important student, not a number or name on a roster of graduate students. Application to occupational therapy programs are extremely competitive and the program is intense, vigorous, and not for everyone."

"The small student to teacher ratio is extremely beneficial. This allows students to have a variety of opportunities that they would not at a larger university. For example, those taking Anatomy and Physiology are lucky enough to have a class of about 15 in cadaver lab. This experience makes students marketable when applying to graduate school. Most importantly, the professors and administration truly care about their students succeeding and do their best to make their time at St. Ambrose the best experience possible."

"The psychology program at St. Ambrose is amazing. The faculty and staff are so willing to help you along your way and they truly get you ready for the real world you will step into! The career center will also provide mock interviews, set up career fairs, and will get you ready to land your top job. 10/10 recommend"

"St. Ambrose is overall a good school, but expect to pay out of pocket for almost everything, and not get a whole lot of help from the Financial Aid department as far as options are concerned. The professors are good, but Financial Aid is clearly used to dealing with students who don't have to worry about the costs of college, and treat you as such."

  • Degree: School Counseling
"This program is one of the best in Chicago for students who want to become counselors and is especially geared toward adult learners and those going back to school. Dr. Z. is an incredible asset to the program and will begin your first year by making you practice counseling techniques that you never thought you could do. This program boasts that their students are some of the best prepared to tackle challenges in their internships compared to other programs in the city due to the amount of time you spend on practical skills. The professors take their role as a gatekeeper incredibly seriously and expect their students to be the best. The mental health of others is in the hands of their students, and they remind us not to take that lightly."

"Small campus, so you know your way around well. Class sizes are also small so that his helpful to have better one-on-one time with your professors. Be aware of some of the newer programs as they are still working out some issues."

"Mostly great teachers with different teaching styles which allowed for a variety of different ways to learn. Smaller class sizes in the masters program and some larger ones were also listed for undergrads so it was great to have interaction with those with no working professional experience and those with."

"St. Ambrose is an incredible school with an incredible faculty. In the Doctor of Physical Therapy program, the faculty are warm and welcoming. They are willing to work with you and help you succeed. They actually want you to succeed, which is refreshing and promising. All of the ratings and stats of both the programs and university as a whole are flawless. I am learning so much from them and am on a journey to becoming to the best physical therapist I can be, thanks to them. The only con I can think of is the expenses of the university. Tuition is pricey and loans are almost necessary. Despite that, It is a fantastic university, from the view of both an undergraduate and graduate student prospective."

"St. Ambrose is a great university in which to receive a Master's degree, because it has accessible, knowledgeable professors and a state of the art facility. I personally am not a big fan of the Quad Cities (surrounding area) and the tuition is fairly steep."

"The DPT program at St. Ambrose is a 2.5 year program with class sizes of 30 to 35. The faculty is great and the effort they make to help their students is secon to none. It is a quality program. The only cons that I have seen are a lack of student housing and lack of food choices in the small eatery at the College Health Sciences building (where all DPT classes are held)."
