"Pros: (1) The staff and career service office is very responsive to student comments and responses. You can tell this is a private school from the attention you get; (2) Professors are very knowledgable; (3) Dallas is a great legal market and has a booming economy so job prospects are good; (4) Feel prepared for the Bar Exam Cons: (1) Diversity is really lacking at SMU. People are a tad close-minded and usually have the same perspective; (2) it's SUPER expensive"

"Pros: Great faculty, support offices, and course options. Good return on investment and career opportunities. Good location. Cons: Overemphasis on Big Law. Could be better on technology integration/ online options offered."

"If you want a job, SMU is the best law school around. And there is no other law library in the country that beats ours!"

"If you get good grades and make good connections, then it's a terrific value and will sere you well jumping into the Dallas legal market. If you're going to graduate with a 3.0 GPA, then it may not be worth it because your job search will be long, difficult, and possibly unfulfilling."

"Pros: Great network in DFW; helpful career services; quality professors. Cons: Expensive; full-time (3 year) students' grades are on the same curve as part-time (4 year) students. Too many courses scheduled in late afternoon/evening."

"SMU is a beautiful campus with great faculty. I was insulated from the general campus experience as a graduate music performance major, so I had a very different experience than most."

"The program itself has been invaluable to by career. Every class that I take equips me with tools that I utilize almost daily. The faculty are extremely interested in the subjects that they teach and it shows. The busywork aspect of the courses is nearly null, everything we are assigned is value added and I highly appreciate that. The only negative feeling that I have towards my education has nothing to do with the program at all actually; it's in Dallas, Texas and the traffic is miserable. Is this something that would derail me from choosing SMU again? Absolutely not."

"Southern Methodist University (SMU) Masters of Liberal Studies program exist to teach and allow students to think about specific concepts and theories in a more broad and challenging way. This program mainly consist of students who are 30 years and older, while being taught mainly by white male professors who are 40 years and older. The diversity within the program is lacking, therefore the concepts, diverse life experiences, and ideologies of life are lacking in class room conversation as well. The pros of being in the liberal studies program for me, as a young female minority, are learning these concepts and ideas from a different generation and culture. I am able to bring something different to the table when we engage in class room discussion. I am able to learn from my classmates as well as my professor, while also enlightening them. I also appreciate the flexibility of the program. The class schedules are set up for those who work during the day. The program is demanding, but they allow students to go at their own speed according to their lifestyle. I believe that the cons of this program are easily seen as pros when looking at it in a beneficial manner."

"I am currently a Master's in Accounting student at SMU in Dallas, Texas. As a new student here and a recent intern at a Big 4 accounting firm in Dallas, I know that the SMU accounting program has a good name and reputation in Texas. Perhaps the biggest pro of the SMU accounting program is the valuable alumni network and career services. As a new student to the Dallas area, I had no professional connections whatsoever. I contacted the accounting program career services office and within a week, they helped me get an interview with a local accounting firm. The value of the Mustang alumni network and career services center are outstanding. The biggest con so far that I have seen is the price of the program. The Master's in Accounting program is $45,000 for one semester. This is part of the reason why I am applying for this scholarship!"

"Great faculty and very supportive. Workload was practical and appropriate. Con little to no financial aid. This program is ideal for working professional but traditional students can benefits as well. Marketing the degree to future employers has been a challenge. I would still do this program again."

"I'm participating in SMU's 4+1 Master's program which allows you to double count some of your Master's classes for both undergraduate and graduate study. This means I'll finish my Master's in one year and be ready for a career."
