"Good professional education for grad programs, but it should give more freedom to students to foster their own study plan and progress."

"Pros: Collegial, supportive student cohort. Financial aid available for master's students (this is unusual). Most seminars have 8 students or less. Massive resources in libraries, IT, counseling, career, recreation, you name it. Famous faculty who love teaching. Lots of personal attention. Cons: Extremely high cost of living. Vicinity is dull, especially for young people."

"Pros - Atmosphere is great to learn anything that you want to. There is nothing to stop you from achieving the goals you want to. The research that is taking place is at such a high level and with so much collaborations happening that you could not wish to be in a different place. Stanford is all about innovations and getting you to succeed in your endeavors."

"Stanford provides the best intellectual environment possible for learning and producing cutting edge knowledge. The students and faculty are also very supportive of each other, and the ethos of collaboration and creation is strong. Housing can be pricey, but I find it a worthwhile trade-off for the great quality of life and education received."

"Very good place to meet up with other top students with diverse background! The recent food price increase in dining halls could be a cons."

"Stanford's humanities Ph.D. programs foster strong and supportive graduate student communities, with minimal sense of competition between students. Funding is generous. The faculty are super-available and in many respects treat students as junior colleagues. The downside to Stanford is that its graduate courses, like its undergrad courses, are run on the quarter system, severely abridging the time students have to research and write seminar papers. That decreases the chance that students will produce publishable work or dissertation material during their graduate coursework."

"The academics are great. The curriculum is amazing, lots of flexibility in the second year. Professors are awesome. The people are the best asset of the GSB. Best two years you could ask for in an MBA. Cons are transport is difficult without a car and the town can be a little sleepy."
